The Dribbling Game Activity Description The Game: Players dribble throughout the inner grid. The coach can use this free dribble segment to offer several options. When the coach yells: Turn- players must change direction Ball Taps- players must perform toe taps on the ball Foundation- the players must pass the ball back and forth between their legs When the coach shouts a color, players must quickly dribble out and around that disc (or colored pinnie) and go back to the grid. This forces players to get their head up to locate the proper disc, accelerate or “change their pace” to get to the disc. Coach can shout a 2nd color to force players to change direction when dribbling at speed. Note: Introduce progressions one at a time. This builds in some rest for the players and also allows them to process the information better. Charlie Cooke 1v1 Fast breakAttack Activity Description The Exercise: Play begins when one player from the white line dribbles quickly and shoots the ball into a goal once he enters the shooting zone. Once the white player releases the ball, the first player in the red line attacks either goal. The white player should quickly transition to defense If the white player can take away the goal directly in front of the red line, the Red player should cut the ball back and attack the other goal Once red shoots, the first player in the white line should immediately attack the goal that is now open. Red should quickly transition to defend. When the defender wins the ball you can: Say that battle is over! The attacker should transition to defense and the first person in the opposite color begins the new attack or You can allow the defender to become the attacker. Once a goal is scored whoever scores it transitions to defense and the first person in the opposite color begins the new attack 1v1 Attack 2 Goals with Shooting Zone Activity Description The Game: Coach serves ball out to either team, in this case White. The white player tries to score in either goal, but must enter the shooting zone before doing so. Red needs to recover quickly and take away red's approach to the nearest goal. Force the cutback. Coaching tip: The defender should not run at the ball, but recover toward the pugg goal on the ball side. If the defender runs at the ball and the attacker is quick, the ball will already be gone by the time the defender is there. If Red wins the ball, he/she can counter by passing through the gate directly to the coach. This will help teach the defender to get his/her head up and play forward quickly. Whoever gets to the ball first should attack the pugg goals. The other player defends the puggs and attempts to counter Scrimmage Final 20 Minutes 6v6 Attacking with speed Can we win our 1v1 Battles?
