OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL Sonning Common Primary School Grove Road, Sonning Common, Reading, Berkshire, RG4 9RJ Tel: 0118 9722105 Fax: 0118 9721019 e-mail: [email protected] Head Teacher: Mr C Hirst Deputy Head Teacher: Mrs R Salmons Weekly Newsletter Thursday 6th October 2016 Dear Parents, Grandparents’ Week Grandparents are invited to come and spend an afternoon in school with their grandchild(ren) any afternoon, Monday to Thursday, week commencing Monday 17th October. If possible, they should come on the afternoon allocated to their child’s house. If they are unable to attend on the given day, please feel free to choose another afternoon during the week. We will be starting activities at around 2pm so please arrive no earlier than 1.45pm to give us time to prepare the hall after lunch. No prior registration is needed. This year we will be playing card games followed by a tour of the school by your grandchild(ren). Monday 17th October = Butterflies Tuesday 18th October = Grasshoppers Wednesday 19th October = Ladybirds Thursday 20th October = Wasps Parking Issues It has been brought to our attention once again that when parents are dropping off and collecting their children from school, some are parking across driveways, meaning that residents are having to wait for parents to return before they can park and go into their own houses. Please can you be respectful to our neighbours and avoid parking inappropriately even if you are only going to be a few minutes. Thank you. Race Night Friday 14th October If you would like tickets for the PTA Race Night please put your request in the PTA box. They are £10 each and include a fish and chip supper. Forms for sponsoring a race or horse are available from the website or hard copies can be found in reception. Northbrook Gift Wrap The deadline for placing a gift wrap order is Friday 21st October. Every item you buy raises 22% cashback for school. You can place an order online but these will incur a P&P charge. www.northbrookfundraising.co.uk Football changing If your child attends football club and gets changed for it in Miss Ingram's classroom, please can you come in the main door of the classroom, through the building, as it is difficult for the Year 2 children to leave their classroom after school. Thank you Waterproof trousers Kites are desperate for some more children’s waterproof trousers for forest camp and the mud kitchen. If anyone has any they no longer need or want and would like to donate them to Kites we would love it! Christmas Cards The children have been working hard on a design for their Christmas card. A sample of your child's card will be sent home with an order form. To place an order please return the completed form with payment, cheques payable to SCPS PTA, to the PTA box in reception by Wednesday 19th October. Every sale will raise funds for school.
