POWERBOAT P1 SCOTTISH GRAND PRIX 2017 – APPROACHES TO THE RIVER CLYDE
OFF THE ESPLANADE, GREENOCK

Mariners are advised that the Powerboat P1 Scottish Grand Prix will taking place in the
Approaches to the River Clyde, parallel to the Esplanade in Greenock over the weekend from
Friday 23rd June until Sunday 25th June, 2017.
The extent of the race course over the Saturday and Sunday is shown on the chartlet below:
Mariners should note, that during the races, the area encompassing the race track, should not be
entered into for the safety of all.

Mariners not involved with this event should not impede the waters inside the prohibited area
during the races and practices. All leisure vessels are to adhere to the instructions given to them
by the Event Marshalls and Police.

Timings above are subject to change due to weather and commercial shipping movements.
Additional Activities:
On Friday 23 June between 1100hrs and 1500hrs, or thereabouts, the Powerboat P1 competitors
will be conducting test runs in the area as show in the chartlet as above (1994-0).
All leisure users are reminded that there is a zero alcohol tolerance for the designated person in
charge of the vessel/craft whilst navigating or at anchor in the Clyde. The Clyde is likely to be busy
and all vessels reminded that larger commercial vessels are constrained in their ability to stop or
manoeuvre quickly. Smaller vessels and craft should avoid impeding the safe passage of larger
vessels following the Navigational channels.
Users with IMM VHF Radio should monitor VHF Ch 12 but avoid unnecessary use of this channel
unless required to call Estuary Radio. Other channels for Ship to Ship working on IMM VHF,
should use Ch’s 6, 8, 72 & 77.
