Board of Education Approves 3 More Contracts for Work Related to 2012 Bond
The HISD Board of Education authorizes the district to negotiate contracts with three firms on three more 2012
bond projects, including Grady Middle School, Condit Elementary, and the Mandarin Chinese Language
Immersion K-8 School.
District Forms 21st Century Schools Advisory Committee
HISD has set up a new committee of Houston-area architects, educators, and building experts to help advise
the district on design and facility planning as it moves forward with the 2012 bond program that will build or
renovate 40 schools.
HISD Kicking Off Series of Networking Events for Construction Firms
HISD’s Business Assistance office is hosting the first in a series of Construction Networking Events on
Wednesday, April 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Delmar Fieldhouse. The event will give attendees the opportunity to
network and discuss requirements for the $1.89 billion 2012 bond project.
School Tours Give HISD Educators Firsthand Look at 21st Century Learning
On a recent visit to Dallas, HISD principals and administrators tour three new schools in the area designed for
21st century learning. With the 2012 bond program under way, much discussion has focused on creating
modern facilities that use innovative teaching methods.

More than 40 people turn out to hear an update on the 2012 bond program by HISD Chief Operating Officer
Leo Bobadilla at a luncheon sponsored by the Houston Hispanic Architects & Engineers. “The vision is simple,”
he told the crowd. “Build 21st century schools that support 21st century learning.”
