Issues and goals: Reconciling food, fiber and energy production with biodiversity protection is among the greatest challenges of the century, especially in the face of climate
change. The project entitled MOBILIS funded by FRB (Fondation Recherche Biodiversité) intends at developing bio-economic scenarios linking models of forest, agriculture,
and bird populations (a key national and EU biodiversity indicator) for metropolitan
France. It has three objectives: i) to calibrate bird community dynamics from land use
and climate drivers; ii) to integrate these ecological dynamics with economic models to
compare the biodiversity and economic outcomes of land use and climate scenarios, iii)
to explore novel land use scenarios and public policies promoting economic and ecological
viability.
The present post-doc funded by MOBILIS is in direct line with the previous goals. It
especially focuses on forestry issues. Hence it aims at developping bio-economic models
coupling forestry data from IFN with common bird data from MNHN (Muséum National
d’Histoire naturelle) and climatic scenarios from the IPSL (Institut de recherche en sciences de l’environnement). Particular attention will be paid on multi-criteria and risk
issues for the assessments of scenarios.
