To Whom It May Concern,
This letter confirms that Ankie Petersen has been selected to represent The Netherlands at
Merit360, a program to tackle the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in conjunction with the
United Nations. This program will be held in the USA from August 27th – September 11th 2016.
World Merit is an organization fighting complex global issues by building confidence, raising
aspiration and connecting young diverse citizens of merit. With 500,000 acts of merit already
achieved, all aimed at achieving the SDGs, the community has achieved a reach of over 7.5 million
people globally.
Merit360 is set to have young global citizens from all over the world come together to tackle the
worlds most pressing issues. Under the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals,
participants will be working on an action plan that will be presented at the United Nations
Headquarters on September 9th 2016, a plan that afterwards will be implemented collaboratively
across the world to make positive change.
So far World Merit has received more than two thousand applications from over a 150 different
countries. We strenuously gather those who have the potential to bring change to their community
and the world and who have shown some outstanding progress in current projects.
Ankie Petersen has been selected on the basis of her social conscience, determination to build a
better world and evidenced commitment to volunteering or other extracurricular activities. She has
passed a vigorous application process, which consisted of an online application and interview and
has been selected over many other strong applicants.
360 talented changemakers will be joined by leaders of other NGO’s, world leaders, World Merit
Patrons & Ambassadors, and senior UN Representatives. Previous World Merit events have included
Richard Branson, Malala Yousafzai and Giancarlo Esposito. Already confirmed for Merit360, 2016 are
world leading educationalist Sir Ken Robinson, Poet Suli Breaks, Human Rights icons Jack Healey and
Eva Haller, activist Lauren Singer, Youth Envoy Ahmad Alhendawi, Lord Michael Hastings,
Ambassador Joao Vale De Almeida and North Korean activist Yeonmi Park.
Delegates will connect, listen, debate, share stories, challenge each other’s perspectives and design
innovative solutions. Every Merit360 delegate has already started doing research in their chosen
SDG to prepare Action Plan 001. As part of World Merit’s partnership with the United Nations, these
Action Plans will be presented with the objective of unleashing the upcoming generation to
successfully addressing significant global challenges fully by 2030.
