Click Click Import button in the Home group Click BROWSE Look for a CPS folder on your shared drive Look in State Standards sub-folder (if created) Open Indiana_Academic_Standards_111.cps Click Open Use Expand/Contract buttons to find your standards. If you select a group, all substandards will import. Look for your grade’s standards and click in the box in front of it. 11. Plug the USB cord into the blue receiver and the other end into your computer 2. Open CPS 3. Test the receiver a. Click Settings b. Click Delivery Options c. Click Receiver tab d. Click “Detect CPS Receiver” button e. Click OK when done Create a New Database (done once) 1. Open CPS 2. Choose Create a New CPS File 3. Click OK 4. Type the database name 5. Click Import button in the Home group Choose “Comma Separated Value” Click NEXT Click BROWSE to find your roster file saved as *.CSV on your computer Find the desired class roster and √ check it Click Next 9. Click Done 10. Click OK Create Lessons 1. Open CPS 2. Click the Prepare>Lessons and Assessments tab. 3. To create a parent-level lesson, highlight the database name, which is listed first on the lesson side. 4. To create a child-level lesson, highlight a lesson name. CPS will list the new lesson beneath the lesson name you highlighted. 5. 6. 7. 8. Click New Click Lesson Type Lesson Name i.e., Science (all other info is optional) Click OK Note: You can create Lessons within a Lesson It is important to create a succinct filing system here. Under Science you would create additional lessons like Chapter 1, Chapter 2, litmus lab, etc. Backup Lessons to Network 1. Open CPS 2. Highlight the Database 3. Click File 4. Click Save A Copy As 5. Save to the appropriate folder on your school’s shared drive according to the folder setup established by your Tech Coordinator. 6. If it asks you to replace the file, choose YES Create Questions 1. Open CPS 2. Click the Prepare>Lessons and Assessments Tab 3. Highlight your Lesson (Chapter 1, Litmus Lab, etc.) 4. 5. Click New Click Question 6. Click on the dropdown list in the Format group to select the question type (MC2, T/F, Y/N, etc.) Click on the template list to select a tempate style to apply to the question (chalkboard, graphc, no graphic) 8. Type Question in top box 9. Type answers in A, B, C, etc. Be sure to type one answer in each box. 10. Check the box next the letter A, B, C that is the correct answer. 7. 11. Click on the question icon in the Options group. 12. Click on Standard to associate a State Standard to the Question. 13. Click SAVE icon or to add another question, click SAVE NEXT icon 14. Click to end session Create a Fast Grade (for paper tests/quizzes) 1. Open CPS 2. Click Prepare>Lessons and Assessments tab 3. Click on desired Lesson 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. Click New Click Fast Grade Lesson Type a Fast Grade Title name Click OK Choose from the list (Y/N, T/F, 2, 3, 4, etc. multiple choice responses) Click on the right answer in the correct column Click Add Click Next Click OK when done When ready, engage in STUDENT PACED mode! Engage a Lesson 1. 1. Open CPS 2. 2. Click the Engage>Lessons and Assessments tab. 3. 3. Select the lesson you want to engage. A checkmark appears in the box in front of the lesson you selected. 4. 4. To engage the lesson in Standard mode, click Engage in the Teach group. The CPS Engage toolbar appears. 5. 6. Click Next The Feedback Grid appears Chalkboard: Much like the verbal question feature, this option allows you to upload and draw images while delivering spontaneous questions. Options: Select response cycle options like feedback, auto start, hide/show, and show large screen. The Options button is available only in Preview and Standard mode. CPS Engage toolbar Handle: Click and drag on this icon to move the toolbar anywhere on your screen. Class: Randomly select a response pad number from your active class and call on that student to answer a question verbally in class. You can also take attendance from this button. Charting window: View performance data in a chart. Exit CPS: Save your results up to this point and shut down CPS entirely. 7. 8. Click Start to begin the response session Click End to tally the responses Close: End the delivery session and return to the main CPS window. Quick Guide to the Feedback Grid Engage a Fast Grade Lesson To engage the lesson in Student Paced mode (for in Fast Grade), click Assessment Setup the Engage Options group. A list of delivery modes appears. 1. Select the Student Paced delivery mode 2. 3. Click Engage in the Assessment group. Click Start and the students can enter the answers from the paper test/quiz using the Feedback Grid to see what question they are on Start/End : Start or end the response session : Increase or decrease the time on the timer : Start the timer manually or pause the timer Grid : Shows the feedback grid Hide/Show: Toggle back and forth to show or mask student responses. Guide to the CPS Engage Toolbar: Questions: Allows you to choose any of the pre-written questions in your lesson. Next [#]: This constantly changing menu button indicates which question number is next in chronological order. Click here to put the question on-screen. Verbal: You can spontaneously ask questions in class and still record performance data. Dynamic Standards: Apply Standards to a question on the fly Delivery Options: Choose the types of information that you want shown after responses have been collected (show correct answer, show cumulative correct, etc.) The number of students who have responded will show regardless of the mode of Hide/Show. Reporting 1. Open CPS 2. Click the Report>Reports tab 3. Select a Session 4. Click the Generate button 5. Select Students 6. Select Report Type 7. Select Print Preview Reporting - Take home study guides 1. Open CPS 2. Click Report>Reports tab 3. Select a Session 4. Click the Generate Button 5. Select the Students 6. Select one of the Study Guide Reports 7. Click Print Preview Note: Reports can be printed or saved to a variety of file types. Team Activities There are 3 team activities: Challenge Board, There it is! And Top Score. You can take existing questions and add them to any one of these team activities. Please see the CPS User’s Guide for further details. Import Tests from Word 1. You must first format your Word document. a. 1st line is the title, nd b. 2 line type of question (True/False, Multiple Choice, etc. c. 3rd line is question # followed by question. d. 4th line is ANS: followed by answer e. Repeat b-d for additional questions TITLE: this signals the title to your lesson. (Required) True/False this identifies question type (Required) 1. Water is 1 part hydrogen and 3 parts oxygen. ANS: F “ANS” label identifies the correct answer. You must include the colon “ANS:” (Required) Multiple Choice (Required) 2.
