Shine Happy and healthy Ideas & Imagination Nurturing Everyone Churchdown Parton Manor Infant School Craven Drive Churchdown GLOUCESTER GL3 2AG Executive Head Teacher Mr D Preece Newsletter: Week ending 26th May 2017 Dear Parents/Guardians; Events in school: The school has benefitted from the Life Education Bus; which discussed key and appropriate issues for children to be aware of. The Y2 children have enjoyed taking part in the Junior School’s multi-skills morning and loved their ice-lollies during the Junior School Sports Day. Reception had a great time at Gloucester Cathedral and it has been lovely seeing our Y1s researching Jacques Cousteau! Red Class Assembly: Well done to Red Class for finishing off the term in style with their class assembly. Thank you to all involved, it was a lovely send off at the end of a short and busy term. Race for Life: Just a quick reminder that the Race for Life monies need to be in as soon as possible. Please can the final sponsorships be handed in on the first day back after half-term; thank you. School Improvement: After a successful Project Group Meeting with the Local Authority, the staff have been observed in class this week and the focus was how they demonstrated effective use of resources; how they checked on the children’s progress during the lesson and how their planning affected all the groups in the class. I saw some great things and some things to work on – nevertheless, the staff have worked incredibly hard and are committed to develop practice and the children’s opportunities to be challenged in their learning. Sickness bugs: There are several bugs circulating the school and this is just a plea that if your child has been sick at home, they should be off school for 48hrs. Please make sure you call the school to keep us updated with your child’s progress Head Lice: It’s that time of year again; please can you check your children’s hair and treat appropriately – many thanks Stay and Play: Parton Manor Pre-School are now offering their successful Stay and Play sessions on a Thursday afternoon.
