GERY OTHMANN – PRO SPORTS HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT
Gery played 15 successful years in Europe as a pro hockey player. After retiring back home in
Scarborough, Ontario Canada he decided he missed hockey too much and made the decision to
start a hockey program that, he hoped, would enrich the lives of the young players starting out
today. Gery started up Pro Sports Hockey Development in September 2000 and the program
has been on a climb since his first drop-in skate at Commander Park Arena in the Fall of 2000.
Since the start of Pro Sports, Gery and his instructors, have had many successes and have been
an integral part of the Scarborough Sharks organizations development for many years. Gery
enjoys all aspects of the sport from teaching, correcting, social, friendships to coaching. Gery,
today, continues to coach within the GTHL and has successfully completed various Hockey
Canada certification programs. While, Gery slows down a bit in the spring and summer months
he focusing some of his free time with his Spring Hockey programs under Northern Hockey
where he coaches many teams (boys, girls) at various levels, ages and skill. Gery has managed to
keep hockey a very important part of his life and will tell people he will be forever grateful for
the opportunity to have played hockey and give back and pass along his passion, as the sport has
been very good to him throughout the years.
