iOS DEVICES IN 155 COUNTRIES AND REGIONS WORLDWIDE,
INCLUDING JAPAN
CROOZ, Inc. (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Koji Obuchi) has released Breakin’
Grounds on iOS devices in 155 countries and regions worldwide, including Japan. Prior to
this global release, CROOZ had already carried out the preliminary release of this game in a
limited selection of countries.
Breakin’ Grounds is an epic strategy game where players can build a floating island
kingdom. Players build their kingdoms by taking resources from enemies. In addition to the
established gameplay found in strategy games—sending troops to destroy strongholds in
enemy territory—players can also slice off chunks of the ground and destroy the islands
themselves. Players build their kingdoms by destroying enemy islands and taking their
resources. Furthermore, the action is not limited to ready-made stages (islands); players can
also send troops to destroy the islands of other real-life players and steal their resources.
The fun of stealing resources and the bitter taste of having them snatched away are all part
of the captivating gameplay of Breakin’ Grounds .
CROOZ has used player data from the preliminary release of Breakin’ Grounds to
prepare to attract a greater number of players following the game’s global release, including
improvements to the game’s artwork, adjustments to the difficulty level, and plans for
promotional campaigns.

■ The potential of strategy games
In a December 2014 global ranking of the top ten native app games by revenue on the App
Store and Google Play released by App Annie, puzzle games were the most popular genre by
number of titles, followed by role-playing games and strategy games. Furthermore, the top
ranking game was a strategy game, showing that this genre has an extensive player base
worldwide, and offers significant potential for a blockbuster title.
