‘Stay and Play’ in the Reception Class
9am Thursday 25th September
‘Stay and Play’ is a great opportunity for parents with children in their reception
year to stay and take part in activities with their child and discover more about
the approach to learning taken in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Play is central to the Foundation Stage curriculum. Through supervised play
children are encouraged to explore, develop, imagine and investigate their
surroundings in order to start to understand the world around them. It allows
children to develop skills, build ideas, think creatively and interact and
communicate effectively with others.
We hope that parents take this chance to be in school alongside their child. ‘Stay
and Play’ will take place each month. Look out on the class 1 notice board for
further information.
This ‘Stay and Play’ Ms Leader will explain to parents the approach taken to the
teaching of reading in our school and how parents can help at home! The
children are encouraged to bring in a favourite book to share with the class.
The Friends of Wreningham School (FOWS) AGM is being held in the
school hall Thursday 2nd October at 8pm The Friends is a very friendly group
of parents who volunteer their time to organise events and raise money for
the children in our school. The AGM is a chance for some new parents to join.
Everyone is welcome!
Harvest Festival Our harvest festival will be held at the Village Hall
Thursday 16th October from 9.15am All parents are welcome to attend.
We will again be collecting food that can distributed easily to homeless people
living on the streets in Norwich e.g. cup-a-soups, coffee, powder milk, biscuits
and cakes wrapped in individual foils, powered drinking chocolate and sugar.
Thank you!
MSA The school is wanting to employ a dinner lady. If you are interested in
doing this role one day a week on a Thursday please contact the school.
Ukulele Lessons The school can now offer ukulele lessons on Fridays. Please
come and speak to the school office. Please note there are no guitar lessons
next Friday.

Home School Agreement Our school believes that pupils achieve most when parents and school
work in close partnership. We have developed our home school agreement and it is our aim to
work in partnership with our parents to ensure every child is supported with their learning and is
encouraged to achieve their full potential. We therefore ask all parents and children to sign up to
our new Home/School Agreement being sent home next week. Please return these to the class
teachers. Thank you.
Feedback on Questionnaires - Summer 2014
Thank you for the questionnaire responses from the 2014 Annual Reports.
We are very grateful for the encouragement we received from the responses. All of the returned questionnaires agreed and strongly
agreed the school had a happy, nurturing atmosphere and was welcoming. All responses indicated the children enjoyed school and felt
safe. All responses agreed and strongly agreed the children are well looked after in school and parents are happy with the progress
their child/children make. The areas highlighted by you for this year are:

Children to parents after school - The school will ensure all pupils have been safely collected from the school site. If a parent is
running late please contact the school office. With regard after school clubs the school has updated its policy. Registers will
continued to be taken and children only released back to each parent (unless permission has been received otherwise). Parents
dropping off children will advise if they are being collected by someone else.
Take part in lessons each term - The school is really keen to involve parents and we will continue to consider ways to do this. We
have a parent’s maths calculations morning Thursday 20th November. Parents are encouraged to come to our Reading Cafes.
Information of events more in advance/more information about each event - The weekly school newsletter will be the main
method to inform parents and we will try to publicise events as soon as dates have been confirmed.
Car parked outside the school office at peak times - we have reminded parents this is dangerous and have had the community
police officer patrolling at home times
Re-paint the numbers in the playground - We will re-paint the number square this year

All staff members know my child. Every child is valued. The school really cares about what it does with the children at the centre.
The staff are pro-active and attentive to my child’s needs.
This is a lovely school & [my daughter] really looks forward to the beginning of each term. The teachers have worked hard with
her to ensure she makes really good progress to reach her potential.
Knowing [my son] feels safe and happy and I know he is cared for. I particularly like the school’s values and attitudes.
Children are happy and safe.
Happy and inclusive school – a nice environment to be taught in.
I like the very individual attention [my daughter] receives, and the family environment really nurtures her.
Friendly and supportive to every child and works well to make sure they all reach their full potential.
