Houston County Students Win Special Olympics Georgia Awards
Special Olympics Athlete Oath ~

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – Houston
County students participated in the
Georgia Winter Special Olympics held
Jan. 12-13 in Atlanta. The students
competed in basketball, bowling, team
skills and individual skills. High school
athletes also competed in weight
lighting.
Unified Bowling was played, which is a
team consisting of two Special Education
and two regular education students on
one team. The district’s Gold, Silver and
Bronze award-winners are listed below.

Jacob Hall won 3rd Overall, Silver in Bench and 4th in Squat and Deadlift
Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals
with developmental disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of
society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics Georgia currently has 27,110
registered athletes with close to 600 participants in Houston County. Special Olympics Georgia
serves athletes with intellectual disabilities in more than 180 programs in 120 counties.
