(16in) Circulars 1x 15mm (US19) Double Pointed Needles Darning Needle Skills used Knitting, knitting in the round, purling, decreasing Abbreviations – K1 – knit one stitch P1 – purl one stitch K2tog – knit two stitches together Sizing Guidelines fits heads up to 56cm (22in) circumference – note avg female head circumference is 55 cm (21.7in) and avg male head circumference is 57cm (22.4in), according to the trusty ol’ Wikipedia. If your head is larger than this, check out my pattern – “Super Simple Beanie XL” Using the 12mm (US17) circulars, cast on 28 stitches Join stitches in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches, use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round. Ribbing section k1p1 every round until the piece measures 6.35 cm (2.5in) Body Switch to 15mm (US19) DPNs and knit all stitches until the stockinette section reaches 12.7cm (5in) long. Shaping the Crown Round 1: k2tog, k2, repeat to end of round Round 2: knit all stitches You will now have 21 stitches Repeat Round 1 and 2 one more time. You will now have 14 stitches. Finishing Leave a 38 cm (15in) tail of yarn, attach a darning needle, thread the tail of the yarn through the live stitches on your needs, and cinch the top of the hat shut. Weave in ends Wear!
