Background – Membership: where are we now?
• Continue to achieve great outcomes for
communities locally and abroad
• Membership continues to be rewarding
• However, we face the challenge of a slowly
declining membership. On average:
– Our clubs are getting smaller
– Our membership is aging
– We lose as many members as we attract

• Based on a target of 3% net growth each year
over the next three years
• Endorsed by Governors, Governors Elect and
Governors Nominee in November 2012
• The plan was endorsed by the RI board in
October 2012
• Consistent with RI’s goal for 3% growth each year for next
three years
