Guus Hiddink Passing Warm up Setup - 35 X 25 Yard Area, 4 lines on the out (2 on each side), 2 players in the middle Click to insert session diagram Activity: Player 1 (with the ball) find the first target and continues their run. Target finds player 2 who then finds the second target. Second target completes a pass to player 1. Then the ball comes from the other side. Switch the target after a few minutes. Variations: Multiple variations including 1-2, overlaps and through balls Focus: quality pass (on the ground and proper weight), first touch, timing of the runs, awareness 6v3 with a channel Setup - 40 x 30 yard area, with a 3 yard channel in the middle. 3 white within the channel and 3 blues on each side of the channel. Click to insert session diagram Activity: The blue players are looking to find a penetrating pass and reach the blues on the other side to gain a point. The ball must be played on the ground to receive a point. The white try to win the ball to gain a point. The white must be either in the channel or the side with the ball. Play for 2 minutes and determine a winner. Focus: first touch, weight of pass, ball on the ground, awareness, movement of the ball, quick movement of the ball 3 v 3 v 3 with 2 targets - Finishing Setup - 50 x 40 yard area. Three teams of 3 with two targets on each half. Click to insert session diagram Activity - Yellow starts with the ball and looks to find the target and move into space. The object is to attack with speed and movement to find a scoring opportunity. If the whites win the ball or the yellows shoot and miss the white gains possession and attacks the other goal. The game should be constant and fun. Focus: weight of pass, movement off the ball, awareness, quality shots (facing the frame, on target) Action Points/Notes: Scrimmage (small sided or full field) - For fitness since it is still early in the season maybe do small sided.
