Open division – Michael Fung’s vision
The assistant coach will work collaboratively with the head coach in regards to team selection, player
development and strategic planning. They are expected to work cooperatively with other members of the
coaching and managerial staff, and communicate directly with players for the purpose of analysis and feedback,
thereby requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong candidates will have a positive mentality and lead by example through their conduct and work ethic. They
should be patient, open-minded, supportive, and an excellent critical thinker. Knowledge of the talent pool of
eligible open players from across the country, particularly in the east, would be beneficial. An oral fluency of
French is an asset.
Women’s division – Troë Weston’s vision
The coaching staff should work together as a collaborative unit with skill sets and philosophies complimentary to
one another. To ensure success in the women's division, assistant coaches must be great communicators, driven
to succeed, possess good organizational skills, be adaptable and have good critical-thinking skills. While the
assistant coaches will work closely with the head coach, their focus will be more on individual skill development
and feedback as well as executing team development and season plans. It is also worth noting that it is likely
that one assistant will be offensive focused and one defensive focused.
Strong candidates will be experienced and/or knowledgeable with a diverse range of offensive and defensive
systems. They must be motivational, have a positive attitude and be approachable by female athletes and they
should also value the strength of the team over the strength of the individual. Preference will be given to those
who have a strong knowledge of the talent pools, particularly in Eastern Canada. French speaking would also be
an asset.
