Failing to do so may result in the deactivation of your internet access. SUMMARY OF THE PROCESS To register your computer for wired internet access, you must complete the following steps: A. B. C. D. Go to http://secure.cabrini.edu to register the jack. Install Symantec Endpoint Protection, which is Cabrini’s antivirus software. Update your antivirus software definitions by running LiveUpdate. Fill out the registration form. Please provide a telephone number we can reach you at. STEP A: CONNECTING TO THE CABRINI RESNET ISOLATED NETWORK If you have trouble after trying these instructions, please see the Before You Call page. 1. Please make sure you have a network cable (green or red 14 ft. cables available from your RA or from the ITR office) and that it is plugged into the wall’s network jack and into your computer. 2. While you are plugging it into the wall, please note the jack number label. You will need this information at the end of the registration process. 3. Visit http://secure.cabrini.edu If you have trouble accessing http://secure.cabrini.edu You may be plugged into the wrong jack – look for a jack with a computer icon on it. (This may not apply to all rooms.) Try another jack before you do any other troubleshooting steps. Disable your wireless connection. o On the top right of your screen, click the symbol with curved lines (the leftmost symbol of this picture): o Choose Turn Airport Off Clear your cookies/cache. COMMON QUESTIONS AND ISSUES (APPLE/MAC) Produced August 2009 by the Cabrini College Information Technology & Resources Help Desk DELETING COOKIES IN SAFARI Click on the Safari menu Choose Reset Safari Choose Clear History, Remove All Cookies and Empty cache Then click on Reset Exit and re-enter Safari Go back to http://one.cabrini.edu or http://secure.cabrini.edu . DELETING COOKIES IN FIREFOX Click "Tools" and select "Clear Private Data" Make sure that "Cache" and "Cookies" are selected. Click on "Clear Private Data Now." Exit and re-enter browser. Go back to http://one.cabrini.edu or http://secure.cabrini.edu . STEPS B,C: DOWNLOADING AND UPDATING– COMMON ISSUES If you have trouble downloading the Symantec antivirus software or virus definitions, try one of the following: If you are having trouble logging in to the download, please visit CAMS at http://accounts.cabrini.edu, login and click the big key at the top. You can also call the Help Desk at 610-902-8366 for a password reset. Unplug the network cable and plug it back in. Restart your computer. Follow the steps on the document titled Before You Call. STEP C: SYMANTEC ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE INSTALLATION – COMMON ISSUES If you have problems with installing Symantec, it may be because you are selecting the wrong installer. 1. Make sure you don’t already have any other anti-virus installed on your computer. a. Click your Desktop so that the Go menu appears on the top of your screen (next to Finder, File, Edit, and View menus) b. Click the Go menu and choose Applications c. Look for antivirus like Symantec, McAfee or other software. Uninstall those applications and install the new antivirus software, Symantec Antivirus 10.2 . 2. Double click the SAV102.dmg (should have been saved to your desktop from a previous step) 3. Double click Symantec AntiVirus Installer (NOT Symantec Administration Server) 4. Follow the normal installation instructions. Go to and click the search icon to the top right (looks like a magnifying glass) 2. Type in terminal into the spotlight window that appears. 3. In the white window that appears, you will see something like ComputerName:~You$ at the top. Type next to that: sudo ipconfig set en0 DHCP and press Enter Note: This command will require you to enter your computer password. TYPE IT IN VERY CAREFULLY. Be aware that when you type your password in, the typing will not appear on your screen, but it will still be taking effect. Note: If you are using a Mac Pro [Desktop] which has 2 Ethernet ports, you may need to replace en0 with en1 4. Try accessing http://secure.cabrini.edu again. If none of the above suggestions work to resolve your issues, please do the following: 1. Go to and click the search icon to the top right (looks like a magnifying glass) 2.
