Safer Streets Program Ty Simons had a meeting with the Ocean Grove police following up on recent break-ins and burglaries. According to statistics on their website, there has been a recent spike in incidents. Ty prepared a letter and went to all local businesses to recommend that they leave their till empty and in view. There may be scope to do some publicity on this through local media. Outcome – Ty to follow up with local media about an article 5. Survey of Businesses – responses There was only a limited amount of responses received from the survey that was distributed regarding late night shopping. Outcomes – Cathy Staehr to follow up with Go Traffic to determine what is required for closing The Terrace during late night shopping in December 2016. Shelley Keast’s daughter Maddie, who is currently studying Event Management, to be involved in some capacity. 6. Calendar of Events Small Business Smart Business Organisation Session, by Les Watson to speak on time management. The past 2 sessions that have been run by SBSB in conjunction with the OGBA have been very successful. The first was by Mark Edmonds on Customer Service with 12 participants and then a session on Facebook which had 16 participants. Tourism Greater Geelong and the Bellarine are holding an event at Leura Park Estate from 5:30 – 7:30pm on Monday 20th June. The event will help local businesses identify the role they have to play in Team Tourism. Action item – Shelley Gross to email information regarding upcoming events to all OGBA members 7. Treasurers Report – Helen not present, so this item is held over until the next meeting. 8. Membership Report & Recruitment The current member list requires action to ensure members have paid and any new members are added to the database. Action item – Shelley Gross to put a call out to any members (particularly book keepers) to have a possibly paid role of approximately half an hour a month to manage memberships. 9. Other Business 9.1 Bellarine Time Advertising opportunity distributed to members 9.2 Discussions on whether our recent events has resulted in an increase in membership. There have been a few new members and it was recommended to ensure membership forms are available at any future events. Action Item – provide membership forms at future events 10.
