Get started in Nursing at SVCC
1. Apply to SVCC- on campus or online: http://southside.edu/admissions-quick-start
2. Send or bring official transcripts - High School or GED and College (non-VCCS only).
3. Take placement test: Sign up in Student Development. See link above.
4. Meet with a counselor to be placed in the Pre-Nursing Program (ADN or PN) and enroll in pre-requisites.

Submit Clinical Program Application
Apply online at www.southside.edu/nursing
Submit application after attending Nursing Info Session, completing pre-requisite courses (specific to program), and scoring at least minimum scores on TEAS
pre-entrance test. Submitting an application does not guarantee admission. Per VCCS policy, applicants residing within SVCC’s service area are given priority.
If TEAS Test was not taken at SVCC, submit official TEAS transcript from www.atitesting.com to be sent to SVCC.

__ CPR Requirement: American Heart Association BLS Provider – Obtain certification CARD before July 1, 2017 for ADN Program and before
November 1, 2017 for PN Program. Certification options: HLT 100, SVCC Workforce Development course offerings, SVHEC CNE, local hospitals,
local EMS, www.heart.org **There are other types of CPR out there. Make sure you take the right course!! More details at Info Session

Requirements AFTER acceptance into NURSING PROGRAM - Accepted candidates receive detailed info at orientation.
__ Attend Mandatory Orientation Meeting, date and time in acceptance letter. Be prepared to pay for uniforms to be fitted at this meeting.
__ Health Requirement: Medical Exam Form online at http://southside.edu/nursing/associate-applied-science-forms Complete instructions will be given at
Mandatory Orientation. Wait until after orientation to get physical exam, but find immunization records early!
