Devany Brown, Marylin Contreras, Arnol Deolarte, and Jakayla Walker Each year a grand challenge is given to the USEIT interns by SCEC director Tom Jordan. The Grand Challenge for this year was to develop a Seismic Crisis Visualization System using the Southern California Earthquake Center Virtual Display of Objects (SCEC-VDO) to display information needed for operational earthquake forecasting. Use an open source content management system called Drupal to deliver resourceful information to an array of audiences by adding content to the already existing USEIT website. This website can be accessed at http://scec.usc.edu/internships/useit/ Collected scientific research information from the Science Research Team to create content. Gathered SCEC-VDO animations created by the SCEC-VDO Production Team. Collaborated efforts with the SCEC-VDO Development Team to develop the ability to live stream the Real-time Earthquake Plug-in. Informs SCEC’s staff and interns about each of the groups’ and individual’s goals during the course of the Grand Challenge. http://scec.usc.edu/internships/useit/progresst rack Displays important information about earthquake forecasting and participation probabilities. http://scec.usc.edu/internships/useit/events Displays general information about earthquakes. http://scec.usc.edu/internships/useit/eqbasicinfo Ability to Live stream the Real-time Earthquake Plug-in as Seismic data is being pulled from a Caltech server that updates every thirty seconds. http://scec.usc.edu/internships/useit /activity_updates 2010 SCEC Intern Research Lecture Series http://scec.usc.edu/internships/useit/lecture Updated 2010 All Intern Field Trip with images http://scec.usc.edu/internships/useit/book/1221 Dr. Tom Jordan Dr. Robert de Groot Michael Ihrig Kaitlin Welch
