DIFFERENTIATION IN HASS CURRICULUM – YEAR 7 All students are entitled to rigorous, relevant and engaging learning programs drawn from the Western Australian Curriculum: Humanities and Social Sciences. Teachers take account of the range of their students' current levels of learning, strengths, goals and interests and make adjustments where necessary. In order to cater for the diverse needs of students across Western Australia and to personalise their learning, the skills required in understanding the curriculum content differ in each course. These skills will be the focus of lesson activities and assessments in each course. In the Year 7 Extension Course, the application of all Questioning and Researching, Communicating and Reflecting and Analysis skills are further developed along with the building of Evaluating skills. These skills include: Draw evidence‐based conclusions by evaluating information and/or data to generate a range of alternatives and plan for action in response to contemporary events, challenges, developments,issues, problems and/or phenomena; make comparisons; evaluate costs (disadvantages) and benefits (advantages); and infer relationships.
