Aravindh Chithambaram becomes Tamil
Nadu’s youngest Grandmaster

past 2500 rating to
complete
the
Grandmaster
requirement at Gyor,
Hungary. Aravindh,
born 11th September,
1999, is Tamil Nadu's
youngest
Grandmaster, having won the title on 20 December 2014 at
the age of 15 years 3 month 11 days, overtaking S P
Sethuraman, who held the record previously. Aravindh is
also a student of Velammal School, Chennai like
Sethuraman. Aravindh Chithambaram's rating performance
of ELO 2683 is the highest among the Indians in Gyor,
Hungary where he scored 8 points in 9 rounds taking India to
the World Youth team Gold medal. Aravindh made history
last year winning the Chennai Open 2013, gaining his
maiden GM Norm. His final GM Norm came in a
spectacular fashion, when he defeated Grandmaster Alexei
Shirov at Latvia in 2014. Aravindh Chithambaram who
already has National titles in Under 11, 13 & 19 titles under
his belt, is also an Under-14 silver medalist from World
Youth Chess Championship 2012 at Slovenia. He has been
coached by Indian Olympiad team coach Grandmaster R.B.
Ramesh since 2012. His path to Grandmaster title is a
stunning one, as he completed his requirement in 12 months
time starting November 2013. Aravindh is sponsored by
ONGC. He was also supported by Murugappa Group and
Chess Gurukul Trust in 2014 to play in European
Tournaments.

Entry fee of Rs.150/- and membership fee of Rs.50/- for the year
2015-16 will be collected. Last date of entry will be 26th
March.2015. late fee of Rs.50/- will be collected after the last
date of 26th March, 2015. Register your entry with

Honour :
Glittering Cups will be given to the top eight rankers of U-9,11,15 & 19 for
Boys and five rankers of Girls category respectively in addition three Medals 
will be awarded for each category. .

The top two rankers of U-9 Boys & Girls and top four rankers of 19 Boys &
Girls will represent Tiruvallur District in the forthcoming TN State Under-9
Boys and Girls Chess Championships to be held at Madurai from May 24 –
28, 2015 & TN State Under-19 Boys and Girls Chess Championships to be
held at Cuddalore from May 12 – 16, 2015 respectively..
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Rights of admission to tournament premises reserved.
ELIGIBILIT
Thiruvallur District Players only are eligible to participate.

AGE LIMIT
1. U-09: Players born on or after 1.1.2006 (Selection for State).
2. U-11: Players born on or after 1.1.2004.
3. U-15: Players born on or after 1.1.2000.
4. U-19: Players born on or after 1.1.1996 (Selection for State).

Certificate for age Proof must be produced if not already registered
with Tlr & TNSCA.

SYSTEM OF PLAY
The tournament shall be played under FIDE rapid rule (30
minutes each). Totally, 7 rounds shall be played unless
otherwise decided by the tournament committee before
commencement of the tournament.

TIE-BREAK
Buchholz System of tie-break will be applied.

