$90 (includes materials). For students not enrolled in private study, musicianship classes are $294/fall semester and
$249/spring semester.
Improvisation – Creative Ability Development: An Improvisational Method of Developing Creativity in
Children
The method is accessible to students of all levels, from beginner to advanced. There are only three rules to this method: there is no
such thing as a mistake; always applaud after performances and always remain silent during them; and never criticize a performance.
The author, Alice Kay Kanack, has been teaching and developing this method since 1982.
Intermediate (Suzuki Books 1-3 or comparable level) • Class 30 minutes • 15 weeks
Expands upon the basic principles of the method and encourages continued development of the creative side of the brain.
Beginning in this level, students tend to exhibit finer intonation, rhythm and technical skills as a result of their continued
practice of the exercises.

Winnetka
Advanced (Suzuki Books 4 and up or comparable level) • Class 30 minutes • 15 weeks
Allows for more independence on the part of the participating students and often contains small group activities that can be
executed without an instructor. Exercises include the application of formulas to create improvised string quartets and the
integrations of basic and complex music theory in a straightforward, intuitive and experiential way.|

parts, written for a specific combination of instruments, by a deadline each month. Pieces do not have to be complete or completely
