ODEMSA Drug Kit Process Change
Effective 0800 hours October 12, 2015 MRMC will be moving the
exchange of ODEMSA Drug Kits from the Emergency Department to
the Pharmacy on the ground floor. (basement).
This change is being made to improve the security, accountability &
accuracy of the medication kit exchange process.
Included you will find our drug kit exchange process, map with
directions to the pharmacy as well as photos to the pharmacy.
Please ask any staff member if you need directions to the pharmacy.
Drug Kit Exchange Process
1. Please print a copy of your EMS run sheet & provide it to the
pharmacy. If you do not have a printed copy of your EMS run
sheet please complete the basic information on a MIVT form &
attach a patient label to the MIVT.
2. As a reminder, Narcotic administration still requires a physician
signature and the wasting of medications requires a healthcare
professionals signature. (RN or Pharmacist)

Ask the Charge Nurse for the EMS Proximity Security Card for
reentry into the Emergency Department after Drug Kit exchange.
Drug Kit Exchange Process

Only one person is allowed in the pharmacy to exchange the drug
kit.
5.
When you arrive at the pharmacy door there is an intercom &
camera to communicate with staff. Please advise the staff you
have a EMS Drug Kit to exchange.

The direct number to the pharmacy is 804-764-6919.
7. If you are exchanging an unopened expired drug kit we ask that
you call the pharmacy ahead of time to coordinate the exchange.
MRMC Pharmacy Directions
The pharmacy is located on the ground floor which is
actually the basement.
Exit the emergency department into the patient waiting
room hallway, turn left, travel down the hallway, turn right
and head towards the cafeteria hallway.
Take the elevators directly ahead and take the elevator
to the ground floor. (press “G” button).
Once you arrive on the ground floor exit the elevators
immediately to the right hallway and the pharmacy is the
second door on the right. The pharmacy is only a short
distance from the elevators.
