The European edition of the ‘Discover e-volunteering’ Competition 25th May 2011 was the starting day of collecting applications for The European edition of the ‘Discover e-volunteering’ Competition. This is the only competition in Poland and Europe aimed at awarding and promotion of the most interesting projects engaging virtual volunteers. Competition is organized as one of the flagship projects of the European Year of Volunteering 2011. On-line volunteering has many faces, e.g. free-of-charge consultancy in the network, forming assistance and self-help groups, cooperation in promotion, searching for information or on-line language courses. Through this Competition we want to popularize such activity and show that there are many active, pro-bono initiatives in the internet! The Competition shall proceed through the following stages: May, 25 – July, 31, 2011 - Call for appliactions. August, 22 – September, 5, 2011 – The Competition Selection Committee selects 9-12 best projects. September, 12 – October, 12, 2011 – On-line voting. November 2011 – Final Gala in Warsaw. Call for proposals from e-volunteering organisers. All organisations from the European Union cooperating with volunteers through the Internet may take part in the Competition. Application form is available at http://www.evolunteering.eu/competition. The deadline for applications is July 31, 2011. Meeting of the Competition Selection Committee. Members of the international Selection Committee shall select 9-12 best projects that shall be put to the open on-line voting. On-line voting. Finalists’ profiles (descriptions of organisations and e-volunteering projects) shall be presented at the Competition Internet website. Winners of the Competition shall be selected by internauts in the open on-line voting to be held from 12th September till 12th October 2011, http://www.evolunteering.eu/competition website. Final Gala. The Final Gala summarising the European edition of the Competition shall be organised in November 2011, in Warsaw. During the Gala results of the Competition shall be announced and Winners – shall be awarded and honoured. Prizes The total sum of prizes in the Competition is 5 000 euro, and may increase during the Competition. They are funded by Fundacja Orange nad Fondation Orange.
