ONE SCHOOL ONE BOOK KICKS OFF
For the eighth year in a row, Kenston's Timmons
Elementary School has been transformed into a
storybook. While students attended an assembly,
parents and staff converted the lobby and classroom
pods into scenes from this year's, One School, One
Book selection, Kenny & the Dragon by Tony DiTerlizzi
complete with Dragon and bookstore. Each student
received a copy of the book from the Timmons PTO to
take home and read with their family. Activities in school
will reinforce and expand upon the at home reading.

#1 DOG ESSAY CONTEST WINNER
Kenston Intermediate School fifth grader, Gracelyn
Skladany's dog, ESPN, was selected as the Number
1 Dog in Geauga County based on her winning
essay sponsored by Geauga County Auditor, Frank
Gliha. The contest was open to any fourth or fifth
grade student in the county to kick-off the 2017 Dog
Registration in Geauga County. Gracelyn's teacher,
April Eyler, encouraged her students to participate in
this writing contest. Gracelyn was impressed when
classmate Emily Collier and her dog, Stella, were
recognized with the award last year. ESSAY

GRANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
A First Energy Educator Grant will allow students in
Christian Barrus' Physics classes to use their basic
circuitry knowledge and skills to modify and adapt
toys to interface with an adaptive controller for a
special needs child. The workshop provided by
RePlay for Kids will result in 40 new electronic toys
rewired by high school students for external input
connections. These toys will be distributed to
special needs children in Northeast Ohio.
