FOR UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION IN SEPTEMBER 2017
GENERAL INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS
I)
GENERAL INFORMATION
The procedures and information in this document apply to graduates of recognised
full-time Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) programmes offered by
community colleges in Hong Kong who wish to apply for direct entry to senior year places
of the designated programmes listed here. Final-year students on such sub-degree
programmes can also apply, and admission, if applicable, will be subject to the completion
of the AD or HD programme by August 2017.
The following categories of applicants should apply through the Non-JUPAS Admissions
Scheme instead:
-
-
-
Applicants who would like to apply for direct entry to senior year places based on
qualifications other than an AD or HD awarded by a community college in Hong
Kong;
Applicants who are currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree / higher degree
programme at a tertiary institution and would like to transfer to the University;
Applicants who have once enrolled in a bachelor's degree / higher degree programme at
a tertiary institution and completed one or more year(s) of studies, irrespective of
whether the qualifications have been awarded; and
AD or HD graduates / final-year students from a community college in Hong Kong
who are interested in programmes other than those offering senior year places.
Each applicant can only submit ONE application through any one of the admissions
schemes, namely JUPAS, International/Non-JUPAS Admissions Scheme, DAS, and
Admission of Undergraduate Students from the Mainland, for admission in any one
academic year. Duplicate applications under a particular admissions scheme or across
different admissions schemes will not be considered by the University and application fees
paid are non-refundable.
Incorrect or misrepresented information given in the application will disqualify the
application and any offer(s) made by the University will be withdrawn.
Closing Date
Application closes on December 30, 2016 (12:00 noon Hong Kong Time). Late
applications will be accepted from early January 2017 and details will be announced on the
admissions website nearer the time. As undergraduate places are being filled all the time,
you may wish to apply for admission as early as possible.
Please note that an acknowledgment e-mail will be sent to you immediately after
successful submission of the online application.
If you do not receive the
acknowledgment e-mail, you may check with the Admissions Office by phone at (852)
2241 5886 or by e-mail to [email protected].
Application Fee
All applicants are required to pay an application fee of HK$450 (or HK$750 for late
applications) and the fee is non-refundable.
Choice of Curriculum
You should submit only ONE application for admission in any one academic year, but you
are permitted to indicate up to five choices of curriculum in your application. Before
proceeding with your application, please check the University entrance requirements and
the programme specific requirements here to make sure that you are eligible for admission
to the curriculum you wish to apply for.
Changes to the choice(s) of curriculum will not be allowed after submission of the
application. Please be sure that the degree curriculum you wish to apply for
has/have been correctly chosen in your application.
Interviews and Results
You may be called for an interview or test at any time after submission of the application.
Please however note that not all applicants are required to attend an interview or test and
not all programmes conduct these assessments; being invited to an interview or test is not
an indicator of the chance of admission. You will be notified by the Faculty / Programme
Office of the arrangements for any interview or test individually, if applicable.
You will be informed by e-mail if you are offered admission to the University and you are
required to pay a deposit in the amount of HK$10,000 on your acceptance of the offer by
the date specified in the offer letter or the offer will be withdrawn automatically. You can
also view your application status using your registered application account. Candidates
should consider their application as unsuccessful if they do not hear from the University by
the end of August 2017. Please note that all documents will not be returned once
submitted, and will be destroyed if the application is unsuccessful.
Composition Fees
The composition fees for local and non-local students are different. According to the
definition laid down by the University Grants Committee, non-local students are persons
entering Hong Kong for the purpose of education with a student visa / entry permit issued
by the Director of Immigration. The annual composition fee for local students admitted in
the academic year 2016-2017 is HK$42,100. The fee for local students admitted in
2017-2018 has yet to be decided pending the Government's advice, but we do not expect it
to differ significantly from the current fee. The composition fee for non-local students
admitted in 2017-2018 is HK$146,000 (provisional).

Please give details if you have previously applied for admission to the University.
PREVIOUS PROGRAMME OF STUDY AT THE UNIVERSITY
If you are a former student of the University, please indicate if you have been de-registered

re-admitted to the same programme of study (this will not however affect your chance of
admission to other programmes).
It is important that you provide such information as failure to do so may lead to
disqualification even after admission.
TRANSFER OF CREDITS
Please check the box(es), as appropriate, if you wish to apply for transfer of credits / senior
year entry of studies upon admission. Application will be assessed by the respective
Faculty on a case-by-case basis. Please provide a copy of your academic transcripts to
support your application.
Advanced standing may be granted to students in recognition of studies completed
successfully elsewhere. The number of credits to be granted, if any, will be considered by
Faculty / Programme on a case-by-case basis.

Please indicate your reasons for applying to the University, the chosen curricula,
extra-curricular activities, etc. in the space provided.

visceral disability, speech impairment, autism, mental illness, attention deficit /
hyperactivity disorder, or specific learning difficulties), please provide the relevant
information by specifying the type of disability, degree of impairment and other details
under Description. Supporting documents may be required at a later stage.

facilities that it can provide on your admission. You may also contact the Faculty /
Programme to discuss issues of your concern. It should be emphasised that, under
existing equal opportunity policy of the University, no candidate will be discriminated in
any way on grounds of disability.
