What we need to do next as a school

Naace is the professional association for
advancing education through the appropriate use
of information and communications technology

 Provides:
 practical
information, resources & support
 professional development opportunities
 networking opportunities
NAACE & the SRF
Naace aims to promote the appropriate use of
ICT, not just as a specialist subject but across all
curriculum areas and to assist with whole school
improvement.
The Self-review Framework (SRF) provides a
structure for reviewing the school’s use of
technology and its impact on school
improvement.
The ICT mark
The award for schools with very good use of
technology to support teaching, learning and
school administration and demonstrating a mature
use of technology.
The SRF
This powerful on-line tool offers a structure
for reviewing and improving the school's
use of technology.
1 – Leadership and
Management
 Element 2 – Planning
 Element 3 – Learning
 Element 4 – Assessment of ICT
Capability
 Element 5 – Professional Development
 Element 6 – Resources
 Element
SRF & the Subject Improvement Plan
Planning – using rising stars and adapting;
showing clear differentiation; use of emerging
technologies and using our planning format
 Curriculum Planning – year group leaders and
subject leaders to include ICT use on
curriculum maps (Jan 2014) and ICT links
evident on planning (e.g. apps linked to units of
work)
 Teaching – all at least good or outstanding
 Assessment – using Rising Stars Pupil
Progression Grid at the end of each unit; levels
then entered on Target Tracker
 ICT
Planning
 ICT
planning should be recorded using the
school planning pro-forma
 Rising Stars, ‘Switched on ICT’ is the curriculum
we have adopted – adapt, up-level, see as a
basic starting point, aim to enrich higher,
differentiate, ensure new programmes of study
for computing are covered
 Link to other subjects where possible
e.g. Year 4 ‘We are authors’ creating wikis,
linked to our history topic of ‘The Tudors’
Teaching and Learning
How to teach outstanding computing
 Planning
and teaching should aim to be
outstanding
 Encourage independent learning in computing
lessons – re-model tasks for pupils to match
challenge to needs
 Personalise learning in computing lessons –
constantly adapt
 Promote co-operative and collaborative learning
with challenge
 Assess computing capability (know the levels) *
 E-safety – constantly promote (separate inset)
 Facilitate computing learning outside of the
classroom
Assessment
Assessment in computing involves finding out
how capable children are at being able to
implement a number of individual computing skills
successfully and how well they can combine them
together (into a series of processes) to achieve
an effective outcome to a task.
Assess by:
 Questioning
 On-going (formative assessment)
 End of unit (summative assessment)
 Observations
Recording assessment
 ‘Pupil
Progression record’ amended to match
our pupil progress booklets
 Update A5 assessment booklets – ongoing at
end of each unit / term / by end of June 2014
 Target Tracker – each class has end of year
targets already set, please track progress
and fill gaps (targets are inline with those
expected in core subjects)
 Save work whether ongoing or final piece in
a class folder on the macserver
Next steps – going for outstanding

Year group curriculum maps to show use of ipad apps
(please update apps on ipads) and upload to school website
Jan 2014
Username [email protected]
password Cts010911

Subject leaders to update subject specific curriculum maps
to show ICT links

Lesson observations to take place as a means of ICT
subject leader gathering evidence for SRF and providing
support where needed

Planning scrutiny – please email your first ICT unit of this
academic year, evaluated, once you have completed the
unit (no later than 13th December)
