B/ Coupler: conditioned (2.86ms, >400kW) A/ Status on cavity Cavity GERMAINE It has been successfully heat treated. Furnace is OK. Leak detected in clean room after flash BCP etching (required after heat treatment) Double-Spoke cavity GERMAINE in the furnace Hole on a weld seam (spoke bar). Cannot be repaired this time. Cavity GERMAINE is dead need to use another prototype. -1- Prototype cavities development (cont’d) Cavity ROMEA Heat treatment : next week Test @ 2K: beginning of December. Assembly with (the only) one conditioned coupler: before Christmas 420kW @ 2.86ms RF conditioning process of a coupler Shipment to UU: beginning of January 2017. Test in HNOSS of ROMEA + coupler @ UU: January/February 2017 -2- Prototype cryomodule development Done for the first time in October: assembly of the cryomodule with 2 mock-up cavities with magnetic shields, no couplers, no tuners -> assembly process validated Test @2K: between end of November and Christmas, with the valve box and jumper conection. New cryomodule assembly with ROMEA (back from UU) and GIULIETTA and couplers + tuners: start in May 2017 (wait for RF conditioning of 2 newly produced couplers in March 2017) Prototype cryomodule Shipment to UU: mid of June 2017 Test @ UU: summer 2017 Option under study: assembly with only one coupler (second cavity with antenna) Shipment of the cryomodule to UU in April 2017 -3- Series cryomodules Initial planning: delivery of the 13th cryomodule @ Lund (tested & validated) in January 2019. This was based on a series production to start in March 2016 (corresponding to a call for tender published in Dec. 2015). Offers for Niobium and cavities opened in February 2016 as planned. But IPNO had issues with the purchase department of CNRS in charge of the tender process for Niobium and Cavities. Main reason: offers for Nb not 100% complete and above all, sudden lack of HR in the purchase dpt Status: Issues on HR in purchase dpt now solved Cavities: notification in November - production to start in December 2016. Niobium: notification planned in January 2017 – production to start in Feb17. Updated initial planning with 10 months of delay: delivery @ Lund of the 13th cryomodule in November 2019 -4- Series cryomodules: plan B Goal: delivery of the 13th cryomodule earlier than Nov 2019 by taking reasonable risks. First analysis shows that we probably could save 5 months by reducing the time allocated to : - the preparation of the cavities (controls at delivery, BCP treatment, clean room assembly of the cavity string) - and to the cryomodule assembly outside the clean room Cryomodule n°13 @ Lund in June 2019. Assumption: 13 cryomodules assembled without big problems. No margins. -5-
