Homecoming Court Nominations
The Potomac State College Student Government Association is accepting nominations for 2014
Homecoming Court!
Nomination Process:
The Homecoming Court consists of a King, Queen, Prince, and Princess. Nomination forms must
be turned in to the Student Involvement Office by noon on October 17, 2014.
As in past years, recognized Student Organizations may nominate one candidate for each
category, so long as the organization has enough members to be active (5) and a membership
roster has been submitted to the Office of Student Involvement for the current year.
Nominations are open to all PSC students who qualify. You must get a PSC Faculty / Staff
person to sign off on your nomination form. See below for specific qualifications.
Qualifications for candidates:

Queen/King must be a sophomore, having accumulated 28 or more semester hours
previous to this semester, a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA, and must carry 12 or more
credit hours this semester.

Princess/Prince must carry at least 12 or more semester hours this semester.

Candidates must be in good social standing. (No PSC Student Conduct Code or
Residence Hall Policy violations.)

Must NOT have been the Homecoming King, Queen in the past.
(Advisors are responsible for making sure the candidate is willing to be nominated
BEFORE turning in the Nomination Form to the Student Involvement Office. If the
candidate cannot commit to attending the dance then they should not be nominated)
Election:
Homecoming Court Elections will be held on Monday, October 20th and Wednesday, October
22nd, 2014 from 11 AM – 1 PM in The Loft of the Student Union.
Advertising for Candidates:
Eligible candidates may display election signs/posters beginning Sunday, October 19, 2014. Do
not post signs/posters on windows and doors. The candidate must promptly remove signs after
the election.
Night of the Dance:
The top three candidates from each category will be contacted on Wednesday, October 21st and
informed that they are in the top three and that they will be introduced at the Homecoming
Dance on Thursday, October 23rd in the Davis Conference Center. The dance starts at 8 PM,
and the winners will be announced at approximately 10 PM. Please meet us in The Loft of the
Union at 9 PM so we can get everyone in order and everything ready for the introductions.
Each organization will be responsible for purchasing a corsage and boutonniere for their
candidate. SGA will purchase corsage or boutonniere for candidates who are not members of
student organizations/clubs.
The Queen will represent PSC at the 88th Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester,
VA, in early May. (SGA will pay all costs for the student.)
Please list your candidates on the next page and return to the Student Involvement Office by
noon on Friday, October 17, 2014.
