COMMUNITY ACTION GRANT APPLICATION 2016/2017
The Community Action Grant presented by Just Energy Foundation (the “Grant Program”) is a grant
program for charitable organizations or organizations who receive a charitable trustee in Ontario in
need of funding for a youth-related recreational basketball, hockey/skating and soccer program. MLSE
Foundation will be awarding three (3) grants, totaling $150,000 with each grant being $50,000. These
grants will only support recreational programs, not capital projects.
The Community Action Grant presented by Just Energy Foundation will award one (1) Toronto Raptors
Grant of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for a basketball program, one (1) Toronto Maple Leafs grant of
fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for a hockey/skating program and one (1) Toronto FC grant of fifty
thousand dollars ($50,000) for a soccer program. Selected recipients will be notified February 2017.
In addition to the Eligibility Criteria and the Proposal Selection Process items listed below, Program
Proposals will be assessed using the following criteria:







Fit with the MLSE Foundation mission
Clear, measurable benefits to the community
Potential for lasting impact, including sustainability and maintenance of Program
Clear case for community support
Programs that build more inclusive communities and address barriers of all types
Programs that value, foster and celebrate diversity
Facility considerations, including cost, permitting and potential programming opportunities
NOTE: Review the grant guidelines before answering the grant application questions. Respond to
questions in a word document following the specified word limit.
SUBMISSION PROCESS: The application must be received by the deadline, January 13, 2017 at 5:00pm.
All components must be received by email. Applications that do not meet criteria will be removed from
the evaluation process. You will be contacted in February if you are selected.
