PENINSULA SCHOOL SPORT 10 - 12 Years REGIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIPS
The necessary details are as follows:
Venue: Mareeba Tennis Courts (Borzi Park)
Date: Monday 29 May – Boys
Tuesday 30 May -Girls
Program:
8.30 a.m. – 4.30/5.00 pm
The Peninsula team will be named at Mareeba at the close of play on both
days. Students should not plan to depart before students have completed playing
and umpiring the required number of matches, as Peninsula team members will be
required for distribution of information and outfitting.
ALL students who attend these championships MUST have from the Peninsula
School Sport Handbook (ON THE WEBSITE www.peninsulaschoolsport.eq.edu.au )
the following forms photocopied back to back:
 Permission to attend a Regional Championships & Availability or NonAvailability for Selection (N.B. Students who do not have this form with
them, signed by their Parent & Principal may be sent back to school and
WILL NOT be allowed to participate)

In accepting an Invitation to Compete in a Peninsula School Sport Team, the
student and parents must ensure that other commitments will not affect the
student’s availability and FULL participation in the State Championship Program. **
**
Parents of students selected in District School Sport teams should be
advised of the Peninsula School Sport Compulsory Travel Policy for ALL teams. **
-
Regional Team numbers: 4 girls and 4 boys plus 2 shadows for
emergencies. The shadow players do not travel with the team
unless required.
Important information for District CONVENORS:
When running your district trials, we would like only the top 2 girls/boys to
participate at the Peninsula trials. It is not necessary
to choose 4 players unless you feel all 4 students will
make the Peninsula team. Please discuss your team
list and standard of play with Helen Condon or Robyn
Desbois before inviting students to play at the
Regional Trials.
It is reasonable to expect that intending participants have been involved in
tennis at a competitive level. Students, who are still
playing Hot Shot tennis with coloured balls, may
need to play in the following year.
Teams:
District Team list MUST be e-mailed to [email protected] by May 12
2017 by 3.00 pm so the draw can be organised. Late nominations may
not be considered. This list is also necessary for the convenor to
send in with the regional report.
Umpiring:
level.
Students are expected to know how to umpire at a competent
State Titles: These will be held at the Regional Tennis Centre – Toowoomba.
Food:
It is advised that students bring snacks and lunch
