MEDIA ADVISORY Wednesday, April 24, 2013 Ice Palace is proud to host celebrity hockey game NHL alumni, MLAs and friends Face-Off for Alzheimer’s What: Members of the Alberta Legislative Assembly will put party politics aside when they take to the ice at West Edmonton Mall’s Ice Palace Thursday night to face off against a team of NHL alumni and amateur hockey players. The Ice Palace is proud to host this game of shinny that has one goal: to raise awareness of the Pro-Am Face Off for Alzheimer’s, a charity hockey tournament created to raise funds for the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories. Thursday’s exhibition hockey game will help kick off the Edmonton edition of the 2013 Pro-Am Face Off for Alzheimer’s hockey tournament – a unique fundraising initiative that provides amateur hockey players the opportunity to play alongside former NHL greats while raising crucial funds in support of Alzheimer’s research and care. Proceeds from the tournament go directly to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories. Players in Thursday night’s game will also participate in the tournament which takes place April 27 and April 28 at the Leduc Recreation Centre. People wishing to support the Pro-Am Face Off for Alzheimer’s can do so by visiting proamforalzheimers.ca. Donations can be designated to an individual player or team.
