eMCAT Questionnaire

eMCAT Questionnaire
Thank you very much for taking part in the eMCAT. I hope it was an interesting and rewarding experience for
you and your students. As you are aware, the eMCAT was a pilot, and NZQA hoped to learn a significant
amount about using a computer for assessments. To that end we need quality feedback from the participants
so that we can fully evaluate the pilot and make some decisions about the future.
The students have already had an opportunity to provide feedback and this questionnaire is an opportunity for
teachers to do the same.

Please answer all the questions and where required provide a reason for your answer

In the following questions, MCAT refers to the Maths Common Assessment Task (The ordinary paperbased examination used to assess level 1 Maths 91027)

Question 4
Answering a mathematics question in a computer based assessment is very different
from answering a question in a paper based assessment because the student has to use
a cursor, mouse and keyboard? Do you think the eMCAT was just as effective in
enabling the student to demonstrate their mathematical thinking as a paper based
assessment would be?

Question 6
What changes to the eMCAT would you recommend? Click here to enter your comment.
The eMCAT “marked” the student work and provided a recommended mark for the
question. The teacher then had to go through the student work and either accept or reject
