Strategic Services Group – Assistant Manager The Individual: Project Management Completely conversant with all types of secondary research through databases, statistics and ministry websites, as well as general research (SEC Filings etc.) and primary research involving discussions with industry stakeholders Understand research objectives, design research strategy, interpret and analyze information for accuracy, exhaustiveness and applicability in resolving the research problem Work as a project lead responsible for understanding of client brief, developing the approach and structure of the report and analyzing and synthesizing the information to address the project objectives Strong analytical skills with experience in Porter’s analysis, 4Cs, GE-McKinsey matrix to be applied across projects on market entry strategy, M&A due diligence, procurement analysis and market attractiveness studies; ability to assess the risks and benefits of alternative solutions Develop work plan for all the projects and have prior visibility into client engagement milestones, interim deliverable, etc. in an organized fashion as per prioritization Work as the lead analyst on complex and challenging projects of strategic importance to the client Have understanding of market dynamics as the role entails exposure to a range of industries such as telecom, IT, pharmaceutical, chemical energy and manufacturing Translate client objectives into clear deliverables with associated priorities and constraints Take complete ownership of all quality related aspects Develop solutions to problems, balancing the risks and implications across multiple projects People Management Take on the role of a project lead with complete responsibility of project delivery Capable of managing a team of at least 3-4 junior analysts with responsibilities including steering the team in the right direction, and ensure all work is aimed at meeting client objectives Manage team morale and motivate team members to navigate through pressure situations Provide effective, on-time and objective feedback to team members; provide effective/constructive feedback for their overall grooming and development Act as a guide and mentor to the team members 2010 © The Smart Cube. Strategic Services Group – Assistant Manager The Individual: Client Management Manage at least one client from end to end; would include regular interaction with the client to strengthen the relationship and be on top of identifying opportunities to act as a solutions provider Identify opportunities to cross-sell and provide value-adds to his/her clients Writing proposals and conduct scoping and effort estimation for projects in the pipeline to provide prior visibility to the client Aid in decision making related to client management Coordinate on behalf of the client to keep track of all the projects within the organization and assess any support requirements Work in tandem with the business development heads to identify opportunities to further expand presence with an existing clients and look out for new clients by leveraging the existing knowledge of industries and projects to reach out to more clients and geographies Organizational Initiatives Conduct training and develop training modules at an organizational level Help execute organizational responsibilities by playing an active role in the same (such as training, recruitment, process building, setting up teams, etc.) Responsible for writing appraisal of 3-4 junior analysts every six months and thus be a part of their career development, performance evaluation, promotion readiness, etc. by acting as their career manager ensuring their overall growth and managing expectations Active participation in the recruitment process of new joiners from various campuses as well as for lateral hires; develop questionnaire, conduct group discussions and undertake technical rounds of interviews for the potential candidates in coordination with the HR team Engage in various organizational initiatives including new product development, portal management and ideating for new concepts at organization level to develop methodologies and standardize processes Skills Technical skills: Knowledge of various databases such as DialogPro, OneSource, Factiva and Bloomberg; understanding of industry dynamics such as KPIs and frameworks such as SWOT analysis, Porter’s Five Forces and GE-McKinsey Matrix Other Skills: Motivated, fast thinking, dynamic person with strong business acumen Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong people management skills Perseverant and ‘can do’ attitude Ability to lead by example 2010 © The Smart Cube.
