What is MTEA?
• It is a union of like-minded persons – members of
shipping community for dialogs and settlement of
mutual problems together with governmental
authorities and publicity
• It is a regional dialog site where the members of
shipping community exchange ideas and work out
unified position for the futher activity on
development of maritime industry.
Why MTEA was created?
• To unite members of shipping community in one
organization representing their mutual interests
• To promote complex and effective development of
maritime transport in the Republic of Kazakhstan
MTEA history
The Association was created on November 2008. The
founders are the following shipowning companies :
•«NMSC «KazMorTransFlot» JSC ,
•«OMS Shipping» PLL,
•«GAC Kazakhstan» PLL.
On December 4, 2008 the Department of justice in
Astana registered the Association.
MTEA strategy
Mission
Promotion of the maritime transport in the Republic of
Kazakhstan, representation and protection of rights and
interests of the Association members.
Perspective
Cooperation with governmental authorities and society,
and providing dialog for searching the joint solutions of
social-economic and scientific-technical issues.
Aims of MTEA development
The strategy aims of Association are the following:
1.
Creation of favorable conditions for maritime
transport development in RK;
2.
Representation, protection of rights and
interests of the Association members;
3.
Transformation of the Association in the
effectively working institute;
4.
All-round lighting of maritime transport
activity;
5.
International cooperation.
MTEA foundations and values
• Democratic character. All Association members regardless of size and form
of ownership have equal rights and obligations in the Association.
• Professionalism. The Association members are professionals and
correspond to the international standards of professional cooperation and
communication within the Association, the employees of which are highly
professional specialists.
•Transparency. All Association members stand by principles of maximal
transparency in their activity within the Association.
•Responsibility. The Association members are the companies performing the
ideology of Good Corporate Citizen.
•Innovativeness. All Association members have right to offer own programs
and projects, and promote them within the Association.
•Efficiency. The Association members have right to demand the efficiency of
executive and operating bodies of the Association,

Current activity
•Obtained an accreditation of the Ministry of transport and
communications (permanently we provide expert opinions on
legal acts connected to the transport)
•Introduced changes and amendments to the Government
regulation № 836 dated June 19, 2001 concerning the
changing of rules on employment of specialists of shipboard
personnel
•Worked on introduction of changes to the Law RK «On
merchant shipping». The Association is a member of working
group in Majilis of Parliament RK on examining the Law draft
Current tasks
Attraction of highly qualified specialists, having great
experience in the sphere of maritime transport for the
Association;
Arrangement of PR actions on problems of maritime
transport in mass media;
Permanent consultations with international experts in the
sphere of maritime merchant shipping;
Mending of international links (with associations of the
Caspian countries, cooperation with international
organizations, possibility of implementation of mutual projects
and actions)
