 Welcome to the 28th Rodewald Memorial Basketball Tournament December 9-­‐10, 2016 Munich, Germany PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS Munich International School Vienna International School Zurich International School American International School of Vienna This Tournament is dedicated to the memory of Bill Rodewald, who died tragically in an automobile accident in the summer of 1988, along with his wife and two young children. Bill Rodewald, as the MIS Boys' Varsity coach, was responsible for establishing a winning tradition in basketball at MIS. His Varsity Boys team was champion of the 1988 ISST Tournament. This tournament honours Bill's contribution to the MIS community and the sport of basketball. RULES OF THE COMPETITION The tournament will be played under FIBA rules with the following modifications: • 4x8 minute periods. • 2 time-­‐out first half, 2 second half. plus 1 for each period overtime. • 5 minutes half time. • Overtime play will be 2 minutes. If still no result then another period of overtime will be played. • There will be a guaranteed minimum warm up time of 10 minutes, even if we are running behind time. If we are ahead of time, the game will begin on schedule. It is a tight schedule so please be ready to come on court as soon as the previous game is completed. • In the case of a three-­‐way tie, the following steps will be used to determine positions 1-­‐2-­‐3. At any point in the following three steps if one team is placed first or third and the other two teams remained tied, the head-­‐to head result will determine the placing for positions 1-­‐2 or 2-­‐3. 1) Net point differential (with a maximum of +/-­‐ 30 per game). Games that go into overtime will count as a victory or loss for the teams involved, but the point differential for both teams will be zero (0). 2) If three teams are still tied, the total number of points conceded during regulation time (overtime points not counted) will determine the placings. 3) If three teams still remain tied, the total number of points scored during regulation time (overtime points not counted) will determine the placings. • Only coach, assistant coach and team on bench. All others stay on the bleachers when playing big gym or on the balcony in gym 3. This applies to all activities irrespective of location undertaken during the period of the tournament or competition. • Smoking and any other use of tobacco, the drinking of alcohol and the use of drugs are not permitted. • Housing arrangements made by the responsible official of the host school may not be changed. • Students must be in the house of the host parent by the curfew hour set. • Neither host families nor students may negotiate changes to the ISST regulations for students with respect to curfew, housing arrangements, the use of tobacco, alcohol or drugs or any other rules or provisions set forth by the host school. • Please be extremely careful when using your host family's internet access for downloading files (music, movies, etc.) or programs •
These regulations apply to students: both those from the host school and those visiting throughout the competitions duration and also during the journey to and from the event. Violation of these regulations will be reported to the responsible Official and to the student's Headteacher.
