Objec8ve of building the Wall Review of Wall Ball walls in three towns General DraH Proposal Ques8ons and Concerns Objec8ve •  A core phrase at every skill level in the lacrosse community is “Hit the Wall”. •  Players can drama8cally improve their lacrosse skills by throwing a ball against a wall. •  Creates ver8cal field space where space is limited •  The Wall could be used by other sports in the town to improve their athletes skills. •  The Wall would assist in building community by bringing athletes together at a prac8ce loca8on. Hingham, MA The Wall is ~15 Feet Tall and ~30 Feet wide. It is located at a remote athle8c field on Derby St. Hingham, MA The wall is made of prefabricated sec8ons that are secured to a concrete foo8ng. The cost of this wall was ~$12,000.00 Hingham, MA Ar8ficial turf was placed on both sides of the wall there by doubling its capacity and elimina8ng mud and wear and tear on the grass. Hingham, MA The wall is posi8oned next to an athle8c field to allow it to be u8lized before, during and aHer prac8ce and games. Westwood, MA This wall is ~12 feet tall and ~20 feet wide. It is located at their High School. Westwood, MA This wall is fenced in. There are gaps in the fence allowing athletes to enter and exit. The wall is made of poured concrete. The cost is being inves8gated. Westwood, MA Ar8ficial Turf was placed on both sides of this wall. The surrounding fence is ~10 feet tall (wall 12’). Westwood, MA The wall is posi8oned next to athle8c fields to allow it to be u8lized before, during and aHer prac8ce and games. Sudbury, MA This wall is ~18 feet tall and ~50 feet wide. It is located at their High School. Sudbury, MA This wall is built into the side of a hill. There was considerable excava8on necessary to allow a level surface and proper drainage. The wall is terraced from one side to the other. Sudbury, MA The wall is made of poured concrete and painted blue. It has a concrete skirt before the ar8ficial turf starts, to reduce wear and tear on the turf. This wall cost $50,000.00 to construct. Sudbury, MA The wall is close to but not right next to athle8c fields. I am told by locals the wall is large enough to enable coaches to hold a por8on of their prac8ces at the wall. What other sports could use it? Does using the wall create a lot of noise? Could kids climb on the wall? Will the wall be fenced in? Do the proposed loca8ons interfere with the fields or baseball diamond? Given the size won’t it s8ck out and look overwhelming? How long to construct the wall? How much disrup8on will it cause? Can I look at video of a player prac8cing on a wall? Other Ques8ons or Concerns?
