Direct – goal may be scored directly from kick. Indirect – no direct goal unless touched by another player. Exceptions: kick-off and penalty kicks – must go forward. Taken from spot of foul. By attacking team – ball on goal area line parallel to goal nearest to where foul committed. Any offending team player may take kick. RVSOA 2011 Rule 13 – Free Kick When Awarded - Direct spit, kick, strike, trip or attempt to kick, strike or trip, or jump, push, hold; keeper strikes (or attempts to strike), or push opponent with ball; violent or dangerous charge, charge with both feet off ground, charge keeper; hand ball. RVSOA 2011 Rule 13 – Free Kick When Awarded - Indirect Two touch (kickoff, free kick, penalty kick, goal kick, corner kick, throw in); Offside; Fair charge with no ball, obstruction, kick ball (or attempt) in keepers hand, dangerous play; Keeper taking more than 6 seconds, keeper “two touches” with hands, misconduct where no other restart applies. RVSOA 2011 Rule 13 – Free Kick Indirect (continued) Following incidents, the kick is taken from where the ball is, not the foul: Player, coach or bench person enters or leaves field without permission. Temporary suspension for injury or unusual situation and one team has clear position. Game stopped for misconduct by person in team area. RVSOA 2011 Rule 13 – Free Kick How Taken Opposition at least 10 yards from ball unless: – Standing on their goal line between goal posts. Defending team kicking from within penalty area, opposition must also be outside penalty area. Penalty – caution for encroachment Ball must be stationary.
