10U Levels L6 and L5/10U= Orange Level 2 L4/10U= Orange Level 1 L1-L3/10U= Green Level 1 North Carolina has tagged ALL their tournments! Green Level 1 players can play 12U green ball tournaments…but it will NOT count towards progression points. L6-L4/12U will still be Green Ball. North Carolina 10U Sanctioned Tournaments (L1-L5) Rules and Regulations Eligibility: A player born in 2007 or later is eligible all year. A player born in 2006 is eligible until the last day of the month preceding his/her birth month when turning 11. Requirements: Player must be a current member of USTA. A Certified Referee is required for 10U events. Format & Draws: BG Singles & Doubles. Consolation will be the same as the other events. Entry & Fees: Online registration. Fees will be the same as other events in the tournament. Racquets/Balls: In Orange L2 (NC L5-L6) Youth Tennis Progression Events, the racquet must not be larger than 25”. The low compression ORANGE ball is used. In Orange L1 (NC L4) Youth Tennis Progression Events, the racquet must not be larger than 25”. The low compression ORANGE ball is used. In Green Level 1 (NC L1-L3) Youth Tennis Progression Events, the racquet must not be longer than 29’’. The GREEN BALL is used. Court/Lines: Orange L2 and Orange L1 events will play on a court that is 60 feet long and 21 feet wide (singles) & 27 feet wide (doubles). Hard courts use painted lines, masking tape, or chalk. Clay courts use brush lines, chalk, throw down, or nailed taped lines. Green Level 1 events will use a standard 78’ tennis court. Net: Standard tennis court net shall be used. Scoring: Singles shall be the best of 2 short sets (first to 4 and win by 2), with a set tiebreak (first to seven (7) and win by two (2) at 4-4 in each set, and a set tiebreak (first to 7 and win by 2) for the third set. AD-SCORING. One (1) hour rest between matches. The scoring format is the same for Orange L2, Orange L1, and Green Level 1 Events. Doubles matches for 10 and under tournament play shall consist of a regular six (6) game set with a set tiebreak first to seven (7) and win by 2) at 6-6. AD-SCORING. 15 minute rest between matches In case of inclement weather, singles play shall consist of one regular six (6) game set with a set tiebreak (first to seven (7) and win by 2) at 6-6 . AD-SCORING. 30 minute rest between matches Maximum of 3 singles matches per day, same as other junior divisions Changing Sides: During a set- Players will change sides after odd numbered games (1, 3, 5, etc). During a rd 3 set tiebreaker, players will change sides after every 6 points have been played (6, 12 etc) Serve: Awards: The serve must be hit out of the air diagonally into service box from the baseline. Change Servers after every game. Players will spin racquet to determine who serves first BEFORE warm-up. Allow players to warm up on the side they have chosen to begin the match. Winners receive awards/trophies that the rest of the tournament receives. Ranking/Standings: Players will receive the tournament level ranking points. Volunteers: May be used to help monitor courts if necessary. Court monitors are strongly recommended for 10U events. Grants: Equipment grants are available through http://nctennis.com/?q=grants Code Violations: Certified officials are authorized to use the PPS (Point Penalty System) in orange and green ball junior tennis during NC sanctioned tournaments. USTA NC will impose suspension points in orange and green ball tournaments that are consistent with suspension points imposed by USTA for yellow ball junior players. These points will apply to all NC sanctioned tournaments. NO CODE VIOLATIONS will be reported in TennisLink "Player Violations" in orange ball tournaments."
