Our Nursery
 Glenbrae Children’s Centre is situated in the Strone/Maukinhill area of East Greenock. Our main feeder primary schools
are King’s Oak and All Saints and we have strong links with these schools at transition time and throughout the year.
Places within the nursery are allocated in line with Inverclyde Council’s Admissions policy. We also offer some wrapround
places for children whose parents are in employment, education or training.
 Glenbrae caters for children aged 0 – 12 years.
9 full time equivalent (F.T.E.) places for children aged 0 – 2 years
20 F.T.E. places for children aged 2 – 3 years
30 F.T.E. places for children aged 3 – 5 years
24 places for children aged 5 – 12 years
 The Nursery is staffed by a Head of Centre, a Depute, a Senior Early Years Education & Childcare Officer, an Early
Stages Teacher, 13 Early Years Education & Childcare Officers, 9 full time and 4 job share/part time. We also have 1
Early Years Support Worker, 4 Support Assistants, a Clerical Assistant, a Bus escort/Auxiliary and a Family Support
Worker.
Within the Out of School Care we have 3 staff. Ancillary staff consist of a Caretaker/Driver, 2 Cleaners, a Cook and a
Kitchen Assistant.
 The centre is recognised as a community resource and offers a variety of services/activities to meet the needs of the
community. Centre staff have strong links with a variety of agencies in the community and recognise parents as the prime
educators of their child. This philosophy underpins all our work with families and we aim to:-
o create an atmosphere where parents feel
valued
o develop positive meaningful, relationships
o provide regular opportunities to discuss
children’s progress
o inform parents and where appropriate
consult them about centre matters
o be sensitive and responsive to family needs
The parents room is open every day and is used for Nurturing Sessions/Play Sessions; Parents Group and Bookbug sessions. The
Family Support Worker supports staff with a variety of home link activities and gives support to vulnerable families within and
outwith the Centre.
