Selwyn Township is launching a Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) survey to help understand the needs of local businesses. Retail and service businesses will be receiving letters shortly explaining the project in more detail and will be asked to participate to have their voices heard. We need your help to make this project a success! We are looking for volunteers to help administer the surveys. The survey is an initiative of the Economic Development & Business Committee (EDBC) is an advisory committee appointed by Council to promote and facilitate ongoing communication and cooperation among community partners with respect to economic development matters pertaining to business attraction, retention and expansion; marketing and tourism; and other specific projects identified by Council. 2017 Interim Tax Bill and Landfill Pass! The 2017 interim tax bill was mailed out to property owners late January. Keep a look out for yours! Inside there are two (2) 2017 Landfill Site Passes! Keep them safe - a replacement pass will cost $10.00! Make paying your taxes easy... It's not too late to sign up for pre-authorized payments or to set up online or telephone banking payments. NEW 2017 Landfill Operating Hours! The operating hours for the landfill site at 1480 8th Line (County Road 18) have changed! "Winter Hours" from November 1st to March 31st: Tuesday to Friday - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday - 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM "Summer Hours" from April 1st to October 31st: Tuesday - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Wednesday - 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Thursday - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Friday - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday - 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Watch for your two (2) 2017 Landfill Site Passes in your interim tax bill. Keep them safe - a replacement pass will cost $10.00. Remember that passes need to be presented each time you make a trip to the Landfill. Compost Collection - Bridgenorth Bridgenorth Residents: Did You Know... you have free compost collection on Fridays? The County of Peterborough is running a pilot program in Bridgenorth, which allows residents to take advantage of free compost collection on Fridays! To find out if you are in the collection area, please contact Peterborough County at (705) 775-2737. Qualifying residents can pick-up a free green bin at the Selwyn Township office (1310 Centre Line)! Councillor Gerry Herron using his compost bin! It's Time to Renew your Dog License! Dog licensing is underway in Selwyn Township! Dog Tag Renewals are $15.00 until March 31st, 2017 and then the cost goes up to $25.00! Licensing can help reunite lost dogs with their owners and help you avoid a fine of up to $5,000! The Selwyn Fire Department Giving Back! 2016 was a busy year for the Selwyn Fire Department! The Selwyn Firefighters Association generously donated over $17,000 for the purchase of defibrillators throughout the Township of Selwyn. In November, the Fire Department donated all of their retired Breathing Apparatuses to Firefighters Without Borders Canada. The equipment has made its way to the Dominican Republic to help improve the safety of the Firefighters in that country! In December, members of the Fire Department visited Chemong Public School and discussed Fire Safety with the Grade 3 class! Thanks to donations from local businesses throughout Selwyn Township, over 300 Grade 3 students in the Township brought home their own Fire Safety Book to share with their family over the holidays!
