Chairman’s Report to the Meeting 2014/15 has been another excellent season for our club, but as we focus on potential future developments it is sometimes easy to overlook the simple things that get done each year. Over 350 boys and girls played football each week for the club in a safe and friendly environment. Pitches were booked, fixtures got planned, training sessions were carried out and matches played every week. Our county FA health check was passed with flying colours as all our teams have CRB checked and trained coaches. We ran three successful presentation events and sent 25 boys to France to play football. On top of this we continued to provide coaching to the local Royal Park Primary school and continued to support our chosen charities The Jimmy Mizen and The Aiden Goodwin Foundations. I am particularly proud that we have been able to give our young people the opportunity to become referees and coaches and to give something back to the club. We have now seen over thirty 14-18 year olds get into coaching or refereeing through the Club since we started our Junior Coaches and Referees schemes. Our coaches benefited from our new Head of Coaching being in place with courses and CPD events organised and a special coaches evening taking place just for FCL members. We also continued with our reduced subs scheme for coaches - designed to help and reward our volunteers for the tremendous amount of effort that goes into running teams. All of these things didn’t just happen on their own and everyone involved with the Club should be proud of the amount of time and effort that they put in to helping our young people and to making our Club a great club to be part of. Thanks to you all, we are in a great position to take this club forwards. We will continue to work with the local authority and the Football Foundation to develop Baugh Rd and will continue with our partnership with Kemnal School that we hope will deliver us access to improved training and playing facilities. We will also continue the push towards Community Club status with the London FA as well as further developing our community links with local schools. I am very proud to be the Chairman of FCL and proud of the people who give up their time to organise the Club and who coach it’s teams. I would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to my fellow committee members who do so much work behind the scenes and in particular to Barry May who is stepping down as Club Welfare Officer having done a fantastic job in helping us get the CRB register organised and up to date. I look forward to working with all the new and existing coaches and volunteers and to another successful season in 2015/16. Mike Hanaway – Chairman, Foots Cray Lions JFC 7TH July 2015 2. Treasurer’s Report to the Meeting 2014/15 was another excellent season for the club financially. Subs continue to be collected extremely effectively, and we hope to see this continue. During the Financial year June 2014 to May 2015 we collected over £43.5k in subs and spent £38.5k on the running of the Club. The accounts for the period to 29th May 2015 show the club recorded a surplus of income over expenditure of £5,014.88. This was a bit lower than our budgeted surplus of £7,205 which was created by many different factors in the budget. Football pitch hire came in under budget as the council have allowed us to only pay for pitches we use (i.e. not during bad weather or no home games) this resulted in us paying £1100 less for Sidcup Youth Centre. In addition due to Seven Acre and Sidcup pulling out of Oxford Road we paid £1000 less than we budgeted for. We are also now using Green Court Sports Club for our Kent Youth League (KYL) games, which added £475 to the budget; we will be charging slightly higher subs for KYL to cover extra costs in 2015/16. The increase in numbers of teams and agreeing to provide (where possible) referees for all home games saw our referee costs exceed the budgeted amount again this season even though we more than doubled the amount from last season. Training equipment exceeded the budget but we have seen most teams benefit from spending their £100 bonus on extra equipment. We are holding over £1000 in reserve for Harris Academy as there are outstanding bills to pay due to an error in their accounts department. Players’ trophies showed a surplus as we still had a bill to pay of £1,864 which has now been paid. We are awaiting funds from Royal Park for the community after school club scheme that we provide. Soisy tour came in under budget and is showing a credit in the accounts. We were therefore able to refund each person on tour £15, but this will show in next year’s accounts. There has been a great effort from all teams in keeping league fines to a minimum, only £220 for the whole season, a great improvement on previous years. However, we have seen a significant increase in the number of FA fines this season which reached £125, for inappropriate behaviour on the pitch or towards the referees. This is an area we will be monitoring more closely next season. Our main areas of regular, budgeted expenditure for the season can be seen on the Budget and Accounts Summary and are available to view in detail after the AGM. In brief they were as follows : Hire of Football Pitches: £7,289 Referees Fees: £7,435 League Admin: £2,851 Kit, Equipment & Clothing: £6,600 Training Courses: £2,664 Player Trophies: £2,975 Club Website : www.footscraylions.com Twitter : @fclnews Please visit the FA Respect guide for Parents and Carers: www.thefa.com/respectguide/ Foots Cray Lions Junior Football Club London FA Charter Standard Development Club of the Year 2012 Honorary Life President - Bernard Justham Established 1977 LYFA Affiliation MYY 0442 CLUB COMMITTEE Chairman: Mike Hanaway Club Secretary: Jacqui Herridge Registration Secretary & Treasurer: Denise Forde : General Manager: Darren Shaw Club Strategy Officer: Clive Marks CLUB OFFICERS Head of Coaching: Ian Cogswell Health & Safety Officer: Alison Ellison Child Welfare Officer: Barry May Parents Representative: Michael Blakesley In addition to these we spent part of our surplus on the following areas during the season: Electrics, Baugh Road: £2,280 Groundworks at Baugh Rd: £1,000 Club Branded Gazebo: £760 We ended the financial year with a bank balance of £17,695.71 with outstanding cheques totalling £198. Going forward into 2015/16 we are in a healthy position and expect to be able to spend club funds where they are needed whilst continuing to collect subs effectively, but additionally retaining funds year on year to be able to take the club forward into the future. With this in mind we have already moved £10,000 of the above balance to the clubs reserve account. The total balance on the Reserve Account now stands at £25,003.53. This provides us with a very solid foundation for our ongoing development plans at Baugh Rd. Denise Forde – Treasurer 7/7/15 3. Club Strategy and Objectives To work with the Football Foundation and Local Authority to develop new infrastructure and playing surfaces at Baugh Rd. To continue to work in partnership with the Kemnal School trust to provide improved training facilities for our teams. To work alongside the Oxford Road Club to provide Social facilities for our members. To continue to promote opportunities for our young people to develop within football through coaching and Refereeing To continue to work with our County FA Mentor scheme and Skills Teams to help our own Coaches to develop. To maintain our current team and player levels and provide a range of opportunities for older players to play at the correct levels. To develop the Club organisational structure through the creation of Volunteer Groups to supplement the work of the Committee in order to achieve a sustainable future for the Club.
