2016 NOMLA Tournament Rules
GENERAL
1. All teams will abide by BCLA rules
2. Teams withdrawing less than 2 weeks prior to the start of the tournament will not be eligible for a refund,
unless a replacement team can be found. Please note that there is a "failure to show" fine that would be
imposed for a team that defaults any game. This is a BCLA Minor Directorate process and your
association President can provide you with the necessary info on this.
3. Any changes to team rosters must be supplied to the tournament director prior to the team’s first game.
Each team must be prepared to supply proof of age for all players.
4. All teams from outside of the province of B.C must have written permission from their governing bodies
before participating in the tournament.
GAME PLAY
1. Game sheets will be provided before each game, please ensure that game sheets are verified and signed
by coaches 15 minutes prior to games.
2. Dressing rooms will be assigned .Please clean up after each game.
FORMAT
1. Round robin play , 4 games guaranteed, 1.5 hour floor slots for each game.
2. Five minutes for warm up.
3. 3 X 20 minute periods, running time.
4. There will be a 2 minute break between periods.
5. The last 5 minutes of the third period will be stop time if the goal spread is five points or less.
6. The tournament committee reserves the right to modify this format in order to keep the tourney on time.
There will be no overtime in round robin play.
POINTS AND STANDINGS
1. Five points per round robin game will be awarded as follows
A. One point for each period win
B. One -half point for each period tie
C. Two points for each game win
D. One point for each game tie
ROUND ROBIN TIES:
1
Ties will be broken as follows. Each time a team is eliminated from the tie breaker, the procedure will revert back
to the beginning of the tie breaker procedure.
A. Most wins. Team with the most wins receives the higher ranking
B. Head to Head. If two teams are tied and have played head to head the winner of that game is the leader in
the standing.
C. Teams with the best goal % average {add total goals for and total goals against and divide into total goals
for}
D. Example.10GF + 4 GA = 10/14 =.714
E. Fewest Penalty minutes
F. Coin toss
OVERTIME IN PLAY OFFS
Overtime will take place in playoffs only. Teams will not switch ends. There will be a 3 minute break after the
third period and between overtime periods. 5 minute running time sudden death periods will be played until the
game is decided. Teams will play 4 on 4 for the first overtime period and then play 3 on3 in succeeding overtime
periods until a winner is decided.
DISCIPLINE
1. Players with outstanding suspensions must serve their suspension{s} prior to playing in any tournament
games.
2. Suspensions received during this tourney will carry over to regular league play.
3. Team officials {ie:.coach and or manager}are responsible for the conduct of their players and parents on
tournament property. Offences committed at a tournament are punishable by the tournament
Commissioner, should it be deemed necessary.
4. The tournament committee reserves the right to remove from the tourney any player, coach or spectator
that behaves in a manner considered inappropriate for a minor sporting event.
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
1. All players must be properly registered with BCLA
2. Players in all divisions can only play in two games per day{this includes call up players}
3. All decisions by the tournament committee are final.
