Head-to-head:
This is the second game of a two-game season series between the Wolf Pack and the Binghamton Senators, top affiliate of the Ottawa
Senators, and Binghamton’s only visit of the year to the XL Center. In the teams’ first meeting of the season, November 19 in
Binghamton, the Senators defeated the Wolf Pack by a score of 6-3. Francis Perron scored twice in that game for Binghamton, and
Jack Rodewald (1-2-3) and Kyle Flanagan (0-3-3) had three points apiece. Marek Hrivik and Tanner Glass had a goal and an assist
each for Hartford. The Senators swept a two-game season series last year, winning 4-2 in Binghamton December 26 and 6-2 here at
the XL Center February 21. All-time vs. the Senators, the Wolf Pack are 8-10-0-1 in 19 meetings, 4-4-0-1 here at home.
Wolf Pack Notebook:
The Wolf Pack (19-30-3-2, 43 pts., .398) will be looking to snap a four-game loss drought in today’s game, having fallen 2-0 to the
Springfield Thunderbirds last night on the road. That was the club’s third shutout-against of the season, and the Wolf Pack outshot their
hosts 32-23 in the game, including a combined 23-14 over the final 40 minutes. Team scoring leader Nicklas Jensen (22-15-37 in 48
GP) had seven shots in the game, including his first Wolf Pack penalty shot. Brandon Halverson stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced
in the Hartford net, in his sixth start in seven games and ninth in 11 contests. Today’s game starts a four-game homestand for the Wolf
Pack, who are in the midst of a stretch that sees them play six out of seven games at home.
Senators Notebook:
The Senators (23-29-2-1, 49 pts., .445) suffered their fourth straight loss last night, a 3-2 home defeat to Utica. Binghamton had a 2-1
lead going into the third period, but gave up a pair of goals to the visitors in the final session. Kyle Flanagan scored 3:00 into the game
for the Senators, and Casey Bailey had a second-period goal, after missing the previous two games while on recall to the parent
Ottawa Senators. Francis Perron stretched an assist streak to five games (0-6-6), and defenseman Ben Harpur had an assist for a
second straight game (0-2-2). Matt O’Connor made 27 saves in the Senator goal.
