March 10 (not yet formally announced): Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations
Subcommittee hearing on FY 2017 Education Department Budget with Acting Secretary King
March 17 (close of business): Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee
deadline for Senators to submit programmatic and language submissions for consideration in
the FY 2017 Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill
March 22: (not yet formally announced): House Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations

subcommittee allocations. Will occur at the full committee markup of its first FY 2017

Mid-April? Release of Senate Appropriations Committee’s FY 2017 302(b) subcommittee
allocations. Will occur at the full committee markup of its first FY 2017 appropriations bill.
June date TBD: House Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee markup of FY 2017

June date TBD: House Appropriations full committee markup of FY 2017 Labor-HHS-Education
bill (usually occurs the week after the subcommittee markup)
Late June or July date TBD: Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee markup

Appropriations bill (usually the Thursday of the same week as the subcommittee markup
July or September? Possible House floor consideration of the Labor-HHS-Education
Appropriations bill (note: we don’t expect the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill will be
debated on the Senate floor)
October 1: Start of FY 2017. Congress will likely have to pass a Continuing Resolution prior to
October 1, which will likely run into December.
December: Depending on the outcome of the election, Congress will either pass an omnibus
appropriations bill or a CR that runs until March 2017.
March 2017: Final resolution of FY 2017 appropriations, if not resolved in the December 2016
lame duck session.
