North Farmington High School Alumna, Megan Keller, selected to play in the U.S. Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Farmington, Michigan—On Friday, March 31, 2017, North Farmington High School Alumna Megan Keller will represent the United States in the International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championship. The tournament begins Friday, March 31 and concludes with the finals on Friday, April 7, 2017, at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. Megan began playing hockey when she was 4 years old. She played in a boy's youth League until she was thirteen years old. Then, Megan moved up to the HoneyBaked League and played U14 through U19. While at North Farmington High School, she was also well known for her softball and basketball careers. Megan played softball for four years and basketball for two years. After graduation from North Farmington High School in 2014, Megan was recruited to play hockey for Boston College. Since her Freshman year, she has played in two International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championships and two Four Nations Cups. She was a three time member of the U.S. Women’s Under 22 Select Team and was a member of the U.S. Women’s Under 18 Select Team. Megan has been invited to play at the Women’s National Festival three times. At Boston College, she was named a First Team All American two years in a row. Currently, Megan is a defenseman in her Junior year at Boston College. She is also a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team. This year, Megan won the coveted, Player of the Year Award, through Hockey East. She is the first defensive player to win this award. Megan’s parents are immensely proud of her. Megan’s mother, Lynn Keller, is a Physical Education Teacher at Power Middle School. “We are extremely proud of the opportunities she has been given to represent her country. She has been able to play a sport she loves and get a wonderful education at the same time.” stated Lynn Keller.
