EDUCATIONAL MUSIC & NATURE CAMPS AT WOOTEN WOODS
MUSIC/NATURE CAMP TO BE HELD JUNE 21-26, 2011
Five-time Grammy® winning bass player VICTOR WOOTEN will host a series of educational music
and nature camps this summer and fall at his own WOOTEN WOODS, which is located just an hour
outside of Nashville. Mr. Wooten teaches each day and all day at all the various camps. The upcoming
MUSIC/NATURE camp will take place from Tuesday, June 21st through Sunday, June 26th.
Wooten Woods is a newly built camp/retreat and private event center located in Only, TN, resting on
150 acres along the bank of the beautiful Duck River, one of the world’s most bio-diverse rivers and
home to an abundant array of wild life. The facility has 3 main buildings, an open-air pavilion, 4
instructor cabins, a 2 bedroom/2 bath house, and plenty of space for personal or event-style tents.
The Music/Nature Camp is a 6-day course where students will spend time with qualified music
instructors catering to the student’s specific instrument. The experienced nature staff will provide
exercises and activities designed to heighten the student’s sensitivity and awareness, incorporating
nature into music education. Special guest instructors include multi-instrumentalists Steve Bailey and
Anthony Wellington, saxophonist Bob Franceschini, and percussionist/violinist Joe Craven, among
others. The tuition is $850.00 and includes lodging and meals.
Other camps include: July 14-17--Music/Nature Camp, Junior; August 20-21—Theory Weekend;
September 6-11—Fodera Guitar Camp; September 17-18—Jam Camp Weekend; and September
29-October 2—Spirit Music Camp.
Wooten is an acclaimed musician, author, educator and businessman. As the renowned bass player
for Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, he is heralded as “the Michael Jordan of the bass” and “the most
influential bassist since Jaco Pastorius.” He was recently named in The Top 10 Greatest Bass Players
of All Time in Rolling Stone Magazine’s Readers’ Poll along with John Entwistle, Flea, Paul
McCartney and Geddy Lee. He was recently nominated for a prestigious Audie Award for the audio
book version of his popular novel, The Music Lesson: A Spiritual Search for Growth Through
Music, which is now available in 4 languages and is being used in curriculums in schools around the
world. Wooten recently started his own record label, VIX RECORDS, with the release of A Show of
Hands 15, a re-mastered version of his 1996 solo debut. He will be on tour this summer and fall with
The Flecktones beginning at the end of May.
