WHS Curriculum Strategy 2016
Introduction
His strategy sets out an ambitious future for outstanding learning and teaching through our
curriculum at William Harding. It will ensure that our staff and children are well paced to
take their position in society in the future.
Empowering Confident, self-aware and Resilient Learners
WHS Curriculum Strategy 2016
This strategy maps out the next stage of our journey. Following a rigorous curriculum review
we will begin a new curriculum in September 2016. Our curriculum will encourage enquiry
based project learning. Our strategy places the children at the heart of all we do and the
basis of our thinking. We place particular emphasis on growth mind-set, facilitating learning
through philosophy for children (P4C), RRSA and reading for pleasure.
We must recognise as an organisation and educational setting that the educational
landscape is very different from when we first embarked on our journey. We must maximise
our potential given that over the next few years we will see:




Digital technologies changing and revolutionising what we do and how we do it at
every level in school
Innovative use of resources will appear, public sector funding continues to reduce
Increased population and requirements for school places
Demand patterns changing, as there will be greater diversity and choice in
educational settings for our children and families
Our primary aim over the last 2 years has been to provide an outstanding learning
experience for our children. We are still on a journey and a new strategy and curriculum
approach will help us to achieve this. We will continue to attract and support in their
development, the very best practitioners, so that our children always experience the very
best teaching. We will continue to strengthen our partnerships with other schools and
agencies, increasing the range of links we have within the community. We will endeavour to
establish an outstanding and innovative primary education for the children in our
community and support them to have high aspirations for their future.
Key Priorities
Our Priorities for the next 3 years are:
1. Outstanding outcomes for all our children through an innovative mastery
