Two Week Wait (2WW) Referral – Advice Sheet

Your doctor has referred you to be seen by
a specialist/ consultant within the next two
weeks.
The 2ww bureau will contact you by
letter/telephone to offer an appointment
within 14 days.
Please make sure that you are available to
attend an appointment within 14 days – if
you are not available you must inform your
GP as soon as possible.
The Two Week Fast Track Scheme
This is a National scheme that is being run
to help people who are displaying
symptoms or, who have had a test result
that may suggest the presence of Cancer
and need to be seen by a specialist as
quickly as possible.
This will help to quickly exclude or
diagnose any serious conditions and
help you access the right treatment
options as soon as possible.
Why am I being referred?

Your doctor wants you to see a specialist
as quickly as possible so that the right
treatment/tests can be decided upon. It
does not automatically mean that you
have cancer.

touch to offer a date for you to be seen.
